Year 7/8 Rhinos 9’s Final

A huge well done to our Year 7/8 girls who competed in the Rhinos 9’s Finals today.

The team secured a fantastic victory over Leeds West in the semi-final before facing a strong Trinity Academy side in the final.

The girls performed brilliantly in the warm conditions at AMT Headingley Stadium and represented the school amazingly. Their commitment to training, enrichment sessions, and developing their game has been outstanding all year.

Congratulations to all the girls on a fantastic achievement!

🔥 SMEATON STREAK CHALLENGE IS BACK! 🔥

Starting Monday 1 June, it’s time to kick off Half Term 6 by building your attendance streak!

🏆 Can you attend school every day for 36 consecutive days?

✅ How it works:
• You’ll receive your Smeaton Streak Card during PD tomorrow.
• Your form tutor will stamp your card each day you attend school.
• Complete a 36-day attendance streak and you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win a £25 gift voucher (one winner from each year group!)

🎉 Bonus Reward
Every student who successfully completes the challenge will also earn a non-uniform day (date to be confirmed).

Students have been campaigning all week and tomorrow it’s finally time to elect our next Student Leadership Team, who will be in post for the next 12 months 🤝🏽

Critically, this is an amazing opportunity for us to work with our young people and teach them the importance of casting their vote☝🏽Tomorrow’s polling station will run exactly like they will see when they’re older 👏🏽

A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for our Transition Coffee Morning! It was such a lovely, vibrant morning and we truly enjoyed meeting so many of you.

A special shout out must go to our fantastic Year 7 students who gave up their time on a weekend to support the event. The feedback from families about our Y7s was wonderful to hear – you spoke about how confident they are, how proudly they talk about their school, and how much helpful advice they shared with the new cohort.

It’s the first event of our incredibly exciting Transition programme for our incoming Year 7 students this Saturday 👏🏽

This week, staff took part in their second Learning Reflection Gallery, which focused specifically on ‘Green for Growth’ and showcased the impact our last CPD day has had on pupils’ responses and progress. Staff have begun embedding metacognition, enabling students to reflect on how their work has improved, why this is important, and what they need to continue applying within their work. 👏

Gardening Club week 2 was another unbelievable session from the team 👏🏽
