On Friday, Kerr Mackie’s Samba Band took part in Artform’s Big Samba at Pudsey Civic Hall. Kerr Mackie students joined 10 other schools to learn and perform different grooves and breaks, and were also given the opportunity to perform their own composition based on the song APT. A massive well done to all those who took part.

☀️🎉 KERR MACKIE SUMMER FAIR IS ALMOST HERE! 🎉☀️

With the weather looking set to be hot, hot, hot, we can’t wait to welcome everyone to our Summer Fair! 🌞

Here’s just a taste of what’s on offer:

Bouncy Slide – perfect for burning off some energy!

NEW Spritz Stall – cool down with a refreshing spritz while you enjoy the afternoon. We have a licensed bar serving a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic spritz drinks for the grown-ups.

Amazing Raffle – we’ve been incredibly lucky to receive fantastic prizes donated by local businesses, so make sure you grab your raffle tickets for your chance to win!

Tokens
Our stalls will be using tokens this year, and you can buy these on the day from our Token Station at the entrance. It’s quick and easy, so there’s no need to worry about buying in advance if you missed them last week.

There’ll also be:
🎯 Games and activities
🍰 Delicious cakes and refreshments
🎨 Face painting
🧸 Teddy stalls
🏹 Archery
🚗 Sports Car
⚽ Beat the Goalie
…and so much more!

Every penny raised goes towards supporting our children and school, so we’d love to see as many families, friends and members of the local community there as possible.

Roundhay Cup 2026 - Champions and Medallists!

On Wednesday as many people across the country were gearing up to watch England in the World Cup, children from Year 4, 5 and 6 represented Kerr Mackie at the Roundhay Cup across three football tournaments and a netball tournament playing against the best schools in the local area.

All our teams showed great character, sportsmanship and represented school amazingly in a series of competitive matches. Our Year 4 and 5 teams had some good matches and both just missed out on qualifying for the finals from the group stages.

In the Year 6 competition, our football team, under the management of Mr Rowlands, went one better than we have ever done before and won the tournament overall after a nail-biting penalty shoot-out in the final!

What’s even more remarkable is that their record was 4 wins and one draw, with only one goal conceded in the entire tournament!

Our Year 6 Netball Team followed up their strong performance at the tournament in April with a second place overall finish, narrowly losing out to a very good team from Talbot.

Well done to everyone who took part and congratulations to our medalists and winners!

📚🎶 A fantastic morning on the Leeds Library Story Bus! 🎶📚

This morning in Nursery, we had a wonderful visit to the Leeds Library Story Bus called Nelly! We enjoyed a fun rhythm and rhyme session where we sang nursery rhymes and played musical instruments.

We also listened to a story linked to this year's Summer Reading Challenge theme. Afterwards, the children loved exploring the Story Bus, sharing books, and enjoying reading together in such an exciting space.

Year 2 have had an amazing day on our trip to Temple Newsam house.

We learnt all about Queen Victoria and her friend Emily Meynall Ingram who lived in the house.

Some of us became servants and found out what it was like to carry out daily duties and ended the day playing some Victorian parlour games in the great hall.

Another amazing evening in the the scorching sun as our pupils took part in the Leeds Rhinos Dance Spectacular at Headingley Stadium tonight in front of thousands of fans before the Rhinos vs Hull match.

The children have been practising the routine for the past few weeks and did themselves and Kerr Mackie proud with their brilliant performance!
