My beautiful sculpture - Ermelai.
She is an Ancient, an Ent, a Warrior.
An ancient defender of the woods.
She will guard our trees, the lungs of our Earth.

That is the story behind my sculpture.
The work behind is just as interesting.
Since Art College, I have wanted to make a tree sculpture. Some years later.... The offered its members the opportunity to create an outdoor felted piece. I jumped at the chance.
'Untangled' is the title of our exhibition.
The brief for the exhibition is to provide a commentary on the ways that industry and nature are in competition with each other, be this through exploited materials, through nature taking over abandoned building sites or through industry destroying natural spaces.
The sign was made by .making
The steel structure was made by my magnificent blacksmith friend . She is dressed in a dress and cape felted using Swaledale, Corriedale, Shetland and Alpine from two fabulous supplier@art_dailydose and

I love teaching workshops. Creative workshops can bring someone from absolute beginner to quietly confident. My customers come from all levels and abilities and leave very satisfied. Firstly they took the plunge and booked onto a workshop. Often they are already crafty and trying something new. Sometimes, they are very nervous, don't feel creative. Once immersed in the experience, they produce beautiful and unique work.
Teaching is so fulfilling. Students are willing to learn, have fun and take risks. The creative process is limited only to the imagination. As long as you follow the process, all will be well.
My next workshop will be with a lovely art group in Stockport on 11th June.
