WELCOME TO THE SLT COMMUNITY 💬🤍

New academic year, new faces, new placements, new lectures… and a whole new group of future SLTs! 🗣️✨

Whether you’re joining us for the BSc, starting your MSc, returning for another year or somewhere in between, we’re so glad you’re here.

The SLT Society is your space to meet people, make memories, share experiences and navigate university life together 🤝

We’ve got lots planned for 2026/27 and we can’t wait to share it with you 👀

A summary of the last academic year. Thank you to everyone who participated in all the amazing things our society has done this year.

- Awareness events for stammering, DLD and dysphagia
- Social events including Fresher's fair; a welcome social; trips to the cinema, xmas markets and Cafe 21; and the fabulous end of year ball
- 5 Makaton courses at Level 1 and 2 thanks to our tutor Heather Andrews
- We raised £624.25 for Sunshine and Smiles, a local charity supporting people with Down's Syndrome and their families
- We also sold society fleeces, held a weekly homework club in semester 1 and worked with a young person who stammers to design a stammering awareness and advice leaflet for school staff
- And of course helped to raise awareness of SLT on social media!

Thank you to everyone involved in our committee, events planning and social media at various points this year: Grace, Amy, Arushi, George, Leo, Lynn, Reema, Abi and the Tik Tok team. 💖

Here are some additional details regarding our evening. Please arrive at The Queens Hotel, Palm Court Suite for 7pm.

During the evening, the Linton room will be available as a prayer room and quiet space.

We are excited to announce our first Level 2 Makaton course set for Tuesday 2nd June 9am - 3:30pm!

Tickets for the Level 2 course will go on sale on Monday 25th May at 5pm.

There are 15 places available.
You MUST have a Level 1 certificate - please email [email protected] with this and your preferred email address after buying your ticket. Please do this by Thursday 28th.
