Why German Soldiers Feared This One Soviet Weapon|

The incredible story of the PPSh-41—the submachine gun that became the ultimate symbol of Soviet resilience and changed the course of World War II.
When N**i Germany launched Operation Barbarossa in 1941, the Red Army found themselves outgunned and overwhelmed by Germany’s advanced weapons like the MP40 and MG34. In a moment of absolute desperation, weapons designer Georgy Shpagin created a masterpiece of brutal simplicity: the PPSh-41. Built in hours using cheap stamped metal and raw wood, it unleashed a terrifying storm of fire at 900 to 1,000 rounds per minute.
German soldiers feared its distinctive "mechanical scream" (nicknaming it the "sewing machine") and frequently discarded their own weapons to carry captured PPSh-41s into battle. Armed with its massive 71-round drum magazine, this weapon redefined urban warfare in the ruins of Stalingrad and Berlin.
But its story didn't end in 1945. In this video, we explore how this rugged, unstoppable firearm traveled across continents, becoming the weapon of choice from the frozen hills of Korea to the dense jungles of Vietnam, and why it still earns the respect of weapons experts today.
