Some dreams start with a kid standing beside an aircraft, wondering what it would be like to fly.

Years later, I get to live that dream every single day.

From watching aeroplanes in awe to becoming a flying instructor and examiner, helping others achieve their own aviation goals; it’s been an incredible journey, and I’m grateful for every step of it.

Proof that childhood dreams really can become your everyday reality. ✈️

The best office in the world? 3,000 feet above the ground.

Examiner ✅👨‍✈️

A milestone I’m incredibly proud to share…. Today I successfully passed my Examiner Assessment of Competence, meaning I’m now a Single-Engine & Multi-Engine Class Rating Examiner (SE & ME CRE(A)). 🥳

It’s a proud moment and another exciting milestone in my aviation journey. From learning to fly to becoming a flight instructor, and now an examiner, it’s been a privilege to keep developing in an industry that has given me so many incredible opportunities.

I’m looking forward to continuing my instructing and other flying duties, whilst also strengthening the already excellent examiner team at Having the opportunity to support pilots through some of the most important milestones in their flying careers is a responsibility I genuinely value.

I’ll be swapping a few more “teach and demonstrate” moments for “observe and assess” moments, but I promise I’ll still be the same person on the other end of the headset! 😄✈️

Here’s to the next chapter. Onwards and upwards! 🛫

A week as a Flying Instructor ✈️

Early starts. Ever-changing weather. Countless take-offs and landings. Watching confidence grow with every lesson.

There’s nothing quite like helping someone achieve a goal they’ve dreamed about for years. Every flight is different, every student has their own journey, and being part of that never gets old.

For me, it’s still the best job in the world.

Pilot training shouldn’t only come in two expensive extremes - it’s the problem the industry has had for years.

Either you commit to a heavily structured integrated course with a large upfront cost… or you go modular and try to piece together training, structure, and airline relevance as you go.

I’ve been helping EFT work on something different.

The Flight Deck Pathway, developed with Bristol Groundschool, Simtech Aviation, IAGO Flight Training and Wizz Air support, is designed to bridge that gap properly.

It keeps the flexibility and affordability of modular training, but adds structure, consistency, and a clear airline-focused progression from day one.

Since launching the pathway on 27th May, the response has been a clear signal that this conversation isn’t new; it’s been needed for a while. More info: eft.aero

Still early days, but it feels like a shift in how pilot training pathways can be built and I’m excited to be part of a change in how flight training works in the UK! 🛫👨‍✈️👩‍✈️🧑‍✈️
