Badgers Class have had a wonderfully busy start to the term!
They enjoyed an exciting trip to Leatherhead town Centre, where they explored the different shops and matched what they found to the symbols in their PODD books. After that, they headed to the supermarket to buy all the ingredients from the shopping list they had created together for their afternoon cooking session. Once all the shopping was complete, the children helped to scan the items and pay at the checkout—great real‑life learning in action! To finish the outing, everyone sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed a snack together. Lots of fun was had by all!
Badgers Class have been full of curiosity—asking lots of “why?” questions and making their own predictions during a range of hands on experiments this week. The children took part in volcanic eruptions, slime making, and even tested how quickly different foods melt using hairdryers. They explored floating and sinking with teddies both in the swimming pool and in the classroom, investigated different sounds, and experimented with colourful food mixes. It has been a fantastic week of discovery, exploration, and fun!

This term Squirrels have enjoyed learning about the different Emergency services and learning how to call 999. We have had fun role playing and learning how they can help us stay safe. Squirrels then went on and made their own emergency vehicles from junk modelling and made our own service badges. We have loved reading our class stories that are based on the emergency service and have come up with some sentences along the way.

I would call a alligator if there was a robber because he could eat them.
I would call a zebra in a emergency.
I would call a turkey in a emergency.
I would call a panda in a emergency, they would call mummy.
I would call a ostrich in a emergency if someone is hurt.
I would call a pig in a emergency but instead they ate pasta.
I would call a cheetah in a emergency.
I would call a cheetah and a leopard in a emergency.
I would call a dog and pig in an emergency.

Hedgehogs have been busy working this term but have also had time to develop their independent and imaginative play. This kind of self-directed play builds confidence, resilience, and the ability to explore ideas without fear of being “right” or “wrong.” It also gives the class valuable moments of calm, helping them develop focus and emotional regulation. Encouraging independent, imaginative play not only nurtures lifelong creativity, but also supports their growing sense of self and independence.

Ashwood class have had a busy few weeks back at school this term. They have enjoyed cooking jacket potatoes and cheese and making ham salad wraps in food tech, and a group went to the Beeches Care Home for Intergenerational Music last Friday afternoon. We have been busy establishing our routines in Literacy and Maths with a range of activities.
