Belonging matters. At home. At school. Everywhere. 🌿

It’s the feeling of ‘I am safe here. I am known here. I matter here. I can be myself.’

When children feel they belong, their emotional wellbeing can flourish. They feel safer to connect, explore, learn and ask for help.

At home, you can build belonging through small things: listening, accepting, making time and showing your child that there is always a place for them. Do the things they love.

At Little Bumbles we begin this process alongside nature for lifelong belonging - wherever your child is in nature they will feel at home. In Play Therapy where there has been difficulty, we unpick the child’s inner thoughts about themselves and belonging begins with building the trusting relationship.

Belonging is being somewhere where you can be fully yourself. Sometimes a child doesn't need to be changed. They need to feel safe, loved and know they belong. 💛

Yesterday during session the new school year had brought questions about how children learn language and what happens when there are differences in the way a child learns in comparison to the majority of their peers.

This lead to a handful of conversations about Gestalt Language Processing. We know that many neurodivergent children learn language in blocks of speech, and bypass phonetic reading in preference of learning words on on sight.

Here’s some info that Chat GPT helped me to gather. It’s a really validating read if your child is reluctant - and you want to find ways to help.

Feel like I’m taking a bit of a risk here… but any interest in this type of creative support for the hardworking mamas? I’m just testing the water because lots of you tell me you’d love this.

Give it a like or tag a friend if so.

Maybe I need to change the word ‘mothers’ in the graphic too?

Longer, warmer days change more than just the weather. Each change of season, children have to adapt.

Have you noticed your children feeling a little more emotional, energetic, dysregulated, or maybe struggling with sleep? You’re not imagining it.

As the world tilts on its axis, days get longer and warmer, our bodies adjust — and children often feel these shifts deeply. More daylight can affect melatonin (sleep hormones), later evenings can disrupt routines, and all the extra stimulation, heat, excitement, and schedule changes can make emotions feel bigger.

And honestly? Us adults feel it too. We may feel more tired, overstimulated, restless, or “off” without always connecting it to the season.

This is your gentle reminder: regulation can wobble during change of season. More patience, earlier wind-downs, extra snacks, hydration, quiet moments, and lowered expectations can go a long way.

Children aren’t giving us a hard time — often, they’re having a hard time adjusting.

Summer shifts us all. ☀️💛
