We will be handing out hot dogs outside St Nicholas Church on Saturday between 12 and 2:00 pm as part of the Scarecrow Trail. All proceeds to Sunbeams.

This Speech and Language UK resource has lots of simple, everyday ideas for playing with sounds through rhymes, songs, books and play. It’s a lovely reminder that supporting speech development doesn’t need to feel like practising — we can build it into things we already enjoy doing together.

Is your child sometimes difficult to understand? There are lots of simple things you can do during everyday activities and play to support their speech development.

This week, as part of Playing with Speech Sounds, we’re sharing the link to our Helping Children With Unclear Speech leaflet. It includes information around "typical speech sound development" as well as ideas for supporting children to listen to, practise and develop their speech sounds in everyday situations.

We are still in need of lots of parent support for the Scarecrow Trail this weekend! 🎃🍂

A huge thank you to the small handful of parents who have already signed up to help — we really do appreciate your support. ❤️

The money raised from the Scarecrow Trail will go towards providing a new outdoor shelter in our garden, allowing the children to continue enjoying outdoor play whatever the weather.

Outdoor play is so important for children’s physical development, as well as their confidence, independence and wellbeing. We are therefore hoping to raise as much money as possible to make this happen.

However, we can only do this with your support. If we don’t have enough parents helping with the stalls, we simply won’t be able to raise enough money to fund the new shelter.

Please, if you are able to give even a small amount of your time this weekend, we would be incredibly grateful. Every person who helps makes a difference and gets us one step closer to providing the children with a fantastic outdoor space they can use all year round. 🌦️🌳
