Mark O'Neill Mark O'Neill is an author and journalist and currently resides in Hong Kong. Currently, he is a contributor writer for the Macao magazine.

Mark O'Neill was born in Britain and educated at Marlborough College and New College, Oxford University, where he graduated in English Language and Literature. He worked in Washington DC, Manchester, England and Belfast, before moving to Hong Kong in 1978. He has lived in Asia since then, working in Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, China and Japan, for the Reuters news agency and the South China Morning Post. He resides in Hong Kong and works as an author. He speaks English, French, Mandarin, Cantonese and Japanese.

Over the next few weeks, I will have three talks on the biography of Master Zhang Daqian – “Master of Brush and Men, China’s Pablo Picasso”. Everyone is welcome. We will show a power point with 40 images, including some of his most famous paintings. Books will be available for sale.

The first is 1400-1600, September 27, in Mandarin.

據說張大千的母親曾夢見一隻黑毛猴在閃亮的銅鑼上，隨後便生下了他。這個孩子長大後成為中國畫壇的傳奇人物。他早年經歷奇特，做過土匪頭子的秘書，也曾短暫出家為僧，二十六歲便舉辦首次個人畫展。後來他遠赴敦煌，臨摹古代佛教壁畫，深受啟發。二戰期間，他遊歷世界各地，在亞佩尤、聖保羅、加州蒙特瑞半島和台北等地生活，並於歐洲、亞洲和美洲舉辦展覽，成為中國藝術的國際代言人，被譽為「中國的畢加索」。1956年他與畢加索會面，晚年更開創獨特的潑墨潑彩技法，影響深遠。即使去世數十年，他的作品在拍賣市場上仍屢創佳績，甚至超越畢加索，成為全球最暢銷藝術家，被公認為五百年來最偉大的中國畫家。《中國的畢加索——筆墨大師張大千》生動講述了他跌宕起伏的一生與藝術成就。

馬克·奧尼爾（Mark O'Neill）生於英國倫敦，畢業於牛津大學新學院（New College）。1978年開始在華盛頓、貝爾法斯特、香港、北京、上海、台北、東京及新德里等地為英國廣播公司（BBC）、路透社、《南華早報》及其他媒體工作。身兼作家、記者和大學講師多職，在北京和上海生活逾16年，現居香港。能說（普通話和粵語）、寫中文、法語和日語。
