🎬 ABRSM PERFORMANCE GRADE TIPS

✅ Choose Your 4 Pieces Wisely

- At least 3 must be from the official A, B, C lists.
- The 4th can be another piece from A/B/C lists, or a well-chosen own-choice piece (must match the grade level in difficulty).
- Choose different styles/tempos/ character (Baroque, Romantic, Modern, Jazz)

🎵 Practice Transitions & Stamina

You’ll perform all 4 pieces in one take, so:
- Practice them in full order
- Take short pauses between pieces to regroup
- Build mental stamina like a recital

📹 Perfect Your Video Setup

- Camera angle: Hands keyboard and pedals must be fully visible (side angle is the best)
- Lighting: Bright and clear (avoid backlighting)
- No edits: Video must be one continuous, unedited performance

🎼 Add Musical Detail

You’ll be marked on:
- Accuracy (notes, rhythm)
- Fluency & continuity
- Expression & interpretation
- Style & character
- Focus on dynamics, articulation, rubato, pedaling, and phrasing

🎯 Rehearse Like It’s the Real Take

- Do full run-throughs under performance conditions
- Watch critically: look for memory slips, expression gaps, tempo issues

🧠 Mental Prep

- Visualize your performance
- Have a calm pre-performance routine
- Accept small mistakes – keep going without stopping

📝 Video Submission Checklist
- Correct order of pieces
- Announcement: “This is the ABRSM Performance Grade Piano, Grade X”
- State your name, grade, and pieces
- No background noise or interruptions
- Submit before the deadline!
