Who you have in your birth space matters. Someone who knows you, what you want to avoid and what’s important to you. Not just in conversations in pregnancy, but at your birth. Supporting you AND your partner.
THIS is Doula care.
So many people tell me ‘I wish we’d had a doula’.
Don’t let that be you!

A confession: before I had children I used to LOVE watching OBEM. I genuinely felt like it was great preparation.
What I know know: It is good preparation, but only if your aiming for conveyor belt care that causes the sky high trauma and intervention rates were seeing. And I don’t think anyone would willingly and knowingly choose that. But if this is the image of birth we’ve been presented with since childhood, it becomes deeply embedded.
The births I witness as a doula (I’ve supported 75 now!) don’t look anything like what’s portrayed on OBEM.
The main difference?
People who hire me as their doula don’t want to be passive in what is one of the most important days of their life.
They’re planning on avoiding trauma and they’re doing something about it.
This is echoed in the testimonials I get.
I have a few remaining spots left for summer and autumn birth support. DM me for a chat!

Patience can be really HARD. But it’s key for early labour. Trying to get things moving can often have the opposite effect, this becomes a problem when the cutural narrative is ‘here’s all the thing you can do to progress labour’
Most spontaneous births I support as a doula start ramping up in the evening or overnight, exactly when your mind and body naturally start to wind down - if that’s not the biggest clue, then I don’t know what is!!
Resting, sleeping, conserving energy while you can in early labour is WHAT GETS YOU THROUGH!
I spoke about this when I guested on ‘The ultimate Birth Partner Podcast’ with Sallyann Beresford - check out episode 163.
Your philosophy and plan for early labour is SO important. This is why it forms lots of the work I do with my Doula clients, we discuss in depth what that time might look like. ❤️

This is a place for people who are ready to demand MORE.
More for themselves, more for their children and more for society. Everything starts with birth.
How families are supported throughout pre-conception, pregnancy, birth and parent hood, shapes literally EVERYTHING.
It shapes the society our children grow up into.
Don’t accept the status quo which is frankly ROCK BOTTOM.
I will share things that feel challenging, things that might make you question what you’ve always been lead to believe. But that’s ok because nothing this worth while is meant to be plain sailing!
Finding stuff really tough? My DMs are always open 💖

I’m not here to bestow birth preparation on you.
I walk alongside you as you work out what YOU need to learn / unlearn / uncover .
A doula is a tool, like a course, a book or a podcast - only elevated / extra (when you want some makita in your tool box rather than screw fix basics 🛠️).
I’m not here to fix you or to give you all the answers because it simply doesn’t work like that. Only you have the power to make decisions about your birth and baby, only you can decide how much prep you REALLY want to do.
For the people that are ready to go ALL OUT for themselves and their family - Hi 👋
If you’re looking for someone to walk along side you as you navigate birth in 2026 check out my website, jenculley.com or DM me ✨
