Want to inspire your students to explore a future in engineering, computing or technical design?
Our Virtual Arkwright Engineering Scholarship (AES) Assembly Sessions are designed to introduce eligible students to one of the UK's most prestigious engineering scholarship programmes.
Applications for the 2027 Arkwright Engineering Scholarships open in September 2026. During the session, we'll explain what the scholarship offers, who can apply, what the application process involves, and how becoming an Arkwright Scholar can support students on their journey into STEM.
Perfect for Year 11 students in England and Wales, Year 12 students in Northern Ireland, and S4 students in Scotland (or equivalent), these interactive online assemblies help young people understand the opportunities available, ask questions, and gain the confidence to take the next step.
If your school would like to help students learn more about the Arkwright Engineering Scholarship and the application process, book a virtual assembly at a time that suits you.

A proud moment for the Arkwright Engineering Scholarships team.
Last night, at the Royal Academy of Engineering's Awards Dinner at Raffles London at The OWO, Helen, Lisa and Georgina were honoured to accept the Rooke Award for the Public Promotion of Engineering on behalf of the Arkwright Engineering Scholarships. The award reflects the passion, dedication and hard work of the entire Arkwright team, past and present, whose commitment has shaped and grown the programme over many years.
It also recognises the invaluable support of colleagues across The Smallpeice Trust, as well as our sponsors, industry partners, schools, mentors and alumni, who all play a vital role in inspiring and supporting the next generation of engineers.
It was also a pleasure to celebrate the Royal Academy of Engineering's Young Engineers of the Year awards. During the presentations, we were delighted to see that one of the award recipients is an Arkwright alumni, a lovely moment that highlighted the continued success of so many young people who have come through the programme. Congratulations to all of this year's winners; we wish you every success for the future.
We're incredibly proud to receive this recognition from the Royal Academy of Engineering and grateful to everyone who has been part of the Arkwright journey.

Thank you to everyone who joined our 35th Anniversary Webinar yesterday!
With 120 registrations and 71 attendees joining live at its peak, it was a privilege to hear from five past and current Arkwright Scholars whose experiences spanned nearly three decades. Their stories were a reminder of the lasting impact of the programme, not just on careers, but on confidence, opportunities and lifelong connections.
We were particularly struck by the comments from attendees, who described the discussion as “heart warming”, “inspiring” and “a great opportunity to hear directly from former and current scholars”.
Thank you to our panellists for sharing their experiences so openly, and to everyone who joined us to celebrate 35 years of the Arkwright Engineering Scholarships. We’re looking forward to continuing the conversation and supporting the next generation of engineers and innovators.
Keep an eye out for the full recording coming soon.

It's National Mentoring Day!
Mentorship is about more than guidance—it’s about connection, growth, and shared learning. We're so thankful for the incredible mentors who support our Arkwright Scholars.
This week, we’re celebrating Rachel Hayden, a former Scholar turned mentor. With the support of her own mentor, Rachel found her path into civil engineering and built a thriving career. Now, she’s inspiring the next generation.
You have the power to change a young person's life by becoming an Arkwright Mentor. Learn more about how you can get involved and help inspire the next generation of leaders in engineering: https://www.smallpeicetrust.org.uk/volunteer-with-us/
