This week we’re exploring chicks and new life, and today the children enjoyed a range of chick-themed activities 🐥

From sensory play to creative crafts, the children showed curiosity, excitement, and fantastic engagement throughout 💛

Learning through play helps support their language, confidence, and understanding of the world around them 🌱

At Happy Feet Childminding Ltd, we take a balanced and positive approach to food 🍉

Our meals are cooked using fresh ingredients, with processed foods kept to a minimum.
Soups are a regular part of our menu, as they provide an extra boost of nutrition while helping children explore a range of textures and flavours.

We do not label foods as “good” or “bad”. Instead, we support children to understand moderation and encourage healthy choices in a calm and supportive way.
Children are encouraged to enjoy their main meal before pudding, which is usually fresh fruit or natural yoghurt, with occasional lower-sugar treats for special celebrations such as birthdays.

After all, even adults enjoy the occasional treat — and learning balance from an early age is just as important as healthy eating.

This gentle approach supports children to develop healthy eating habits and a positive relationship with food that can last a lifetime.

💡 Parent tip:
We know how busy family life can be. Even small, simple steps — such as eating together when you can, talking positively about food, or offering a variety of choices — can make a big difference over time. It doesn’t need to be perfect to be meaningful.

Shared reading is never just about learning to read.
As educators, we see how these moments of connection support children’s whole development.

When an adult and child share a book, children are strengthening language and imagination, learning to understand emotions, and making sense of the world around them. Sitting close with a trusted adult creates a sense of safety and belonging, which allows learning to flourish across cognitive, social, and emotional domains.

Every shared story reminds children that their voice matters, relationships are important, and learning happens best through connection.
