Ally’s House five C’s approach places children’s wellbeing at the centre of everything I do.
It begins with connection... a sincere, deep and holistic understanding of the child and the context surrounding them. From there, I create environments, routines and experiences that respond to each child’s individual needs profile, guided by a strong understanding of neurodevelopment, sensory diversity, and the reality that behaviour communicates need.
To my mind, this is the only meaningful foundation for inclusive education.
Inclusion is not simply accepting different neurotypes when they walk through the door and then adding strategies to help that child conform to the normative.
It is building a setting that makes no assumptions about the mind unfolding before us.
A setting that responds to the individual child without comparison to their peers.
A setting that respects the child’s mind, wherever it may sit developmentally and however that pathway may look.
Every child has the right to understand their own mind, not through the lens of:
“This is why they struggle.”
"This is why school is hard.”
But through the lens of:
“This is what we understand about your child.”
“This is the context in which they thrive.”
“Knowing this helps us respect their boundaries and shape an education that fulfils their holistic needs.”
I can’t deny that this feels deeply personal to me right now, and part of me wants to scream it from the rooftops:
Inclusion is not the pursuit of normative through minimising, compromising, segregating, or endlessly bolting on interventions.
Inclusion is respect for all minds:
those with labels,
those without,
and those existing within the grey areas of our current understanding.
True inclusion is grounded in connection.
And it says proudly to the child: “Lead the way.”

I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately! The reality of running a business as a solo childminder is that there’s no team to fall back on. The industry has seen a lot of changes recently, and behind the scenes my administrator, finance director, curriculum planner, chef, safeguarding lead, SENCO, and play lead have all been working incredibly hard… and they’re all me 😂
So, social media coordinator has slipped a little further down the priority list! But rest assured, we’ve been having a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoying welcoming the Spring 🌼
I’m so excited to share that the very first episode of Ally’s House Unlocked is now live on YouTube! 🎉

My goal with this series is to build a library of supportive, easy-to-digest resources for the families I work with. But it’s open to anyone who’s interested. I’d love for you to watch, take something from it and be part of the conversation.
Episode 1 dives into my personal approach to early years education and care, so I’d especially appreciate any feedback on how that comes across 🙏

What a lovely morning, exploring, chatting, spotting signs of Spring and monkeying around outdoors!
Our little packs of goodies will be sent home with families tonight, in celebration of Chatter Matters Week! Warwickshire Time to Talk

We’ve been fully embracing Monkey Movers for Warwickshire Chatter Matters Week 🐒🌿
Over the past two days, we’ve been out exploring the park and woods... climbing, balancing and 'monkeying around' through a range of fun physical challenges. From hide-and-find games to imaginative adventures, the children have been busy moving their bodies and building their confidence.
Most importantly, there’s been plenty of chatter along the way as we share ideas, describe what we see, and chat through our play together. Learning, moving, talking and thriving 😊
