βš½πŸ”΅ School Football is Back at Mearns Academy! πŸ”΅βš½

After school today, we welcomed 20 girls along to training. It was absolutely brilliant to see so many pupils keen to get involved, and it bodes well for an exciting season ahead.

Our Senior Boys have already been in action over the past 10 days, playing two fixtures. While the first result didn't go our way, the squad showed great character and bounced back in style with an impressive victory against Forfar yesterday.

This afternoon saw our S2 and S3 teams play their opening fixtures of the season. Although the results weren't what we hoped for, credit must go to Montrose for two strong performances. Equally, our players deserve praise for their attitude, effort and resilience, continuing to work hard and support one another throughout.

The season is only just getting started, and there is plenty to look forward to. Our teams have been entered into a range of competitions and will have lots of matches to play in the weeks and months ahead.

πŸŽ‰ A fantastic first week of extra-curricular clubs at Mearns Academy! πŸŽ‰

It’s been great to see over 230 pupils attending our lunchtime and after-school sports clubs this week, getting involved, developing new skills and making new friends.

A special mention goes to our Sports Development pupils, who have done an excellent job supporting clubs and helping younger pupils get involved. Their leadership and commitment will make a real difference throughout the year.

If you haven’t joined a club yet, there’s still time! Sign-ups remain open, and we’d encourage everyone to bring a friend along next week and give something new a try. We look forward to seeing even more pupils getting involved in the weeks ahead!

πŸŒŠβ›΅ What an unforgettable summer for Tom! β›΅πŸŒŠ

Tom recently embarked on an incredible Tall Ships adventure, sailing from Aberdeen to Harlingen and then on to Antwerp. Along the way, he experienced life at sea, learned valuable sailing skills, and enjoyed the excitement of travelling between different countries under sail.

One of the highlights of the voyage was taking part in the vibrant crew parade and celebrations, creating lasting memories and a fantastic sense of camaraderie. These events provided the perfect opportunity to meet new people, build friendships, and connect with young people from across the globe.

Reflecting on his journey, Tom describes it as an amazing experience filled with adventure, fun, new friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.

⚽️ Well done Melissa, Isabelle and Sophie! ⚽️

At Saturday's u16s game against Dundee East, we welcomed a Talent ID scout from Five Star International Events, a USA football scholarship company.

Five Star are keen to engage with clubs that are doing excellent work in developing young talent, and were keen to come along and watch our u16s in action. The purpose of the visit was to observe the match and identify potential players who may be suitable candidates for their USA football scholarship programme.

Brechin Community Club are delighted to celebrate that following the game, the scout had identified several girls from the team.

Leigha, Macie, Beth, Maria, Isabelle, Melissa & Sophie have all been selected to take part in the scholarship programme trials. This is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the hard work, dedication and talent they show every week. Everyone at the club is incredibly proud of them and we wish them the very best as they take part in this incredible opportunity to continue their football journey.

Well done to all the girls for representing Brechin Community Club so positively.

πŸ† Aberdeenshire Cup Champions! ⚽

Congratulations to our Under 15 Football team who secured a superb 5–1 victory over Banchory in this afternoon’s Aberdeenshire Cup final!

From the first whistle, the boys played on the front foot, creating real attacking threat down the wide areas. Despite going a goal behind, they showed great character to respond, going in 2–1 up at half time. They carried that momentum into the second half, adding three more goals to put the game beyond doubt.

A fantastic way to round off another strong season for the squad β€” we look forward to seeing them add strength and depth to the senior team next year.

A special mention to Mr Black, who heroically made it out of his sick bed to join the team for the trophy photo β€” dedication at its finest! πŸ‘πŸ‘

The senior practical cookery class completed the tea cake challenge yesterday. It really tested the creativity of many pupils but it is amazing what can be done with a handful of ingredients!
