At Mrs A’s request – perhaps one of her final requests before retirement – we finished the day with a whole-school water fight! (Apart from our Year 6 children, who were away on their leavers’ trip.) There were lots of laughs, plenty of running around and, of course, everyone ended up completely soaked! It was a fantastic way to end the day and create another special memory together before we finish for the summer.

As well as celebrating our 200th anniversary yesterday, we also enjoyed our final visit to the Sustainability Centre. We learnt about animal packs and their collective names, made wooden spinners, took part in a sensory hunt and showed fantastic teamwork throughout the day. As it was their final visit, our Year 6 pupils created and painted a beautiful garden planter before carefully burning their names into the wood as a lasting memory. Thank you, Clare, for three fantastic visits filled with outdoor learning, creativity and fun. We have all loved being part of them.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today to celebrate our 200th anniversary. We started the event by sharing some fascinating facts about life in 1826, followed by a wonderful performance of Cornwall My Home. It was fantastic to see former pupils, past and present staff, families, and members of our community come together to celebrate this special milestone. It was a lovely event filled with happy memories, and we are so grateful to everyone who came along and helped make the day so memorable.

If you’re a current or former pupil, parent or member of staff of this wonderful school, then you are very welcome to visit today for an opportunity to view photos and memories, and enjoy afternoon tea, an ice cream, or even have your face painted!
We open the gates from 3pm until 4:30 pm today…

Today, the whole school enjoyed a fantastic Cornish art lesson led by Isabel, who is with us on work experience and is also a former pupil of Coads Green. It was wonderful to welcome Isabel back to share her creativity and inspire our children. Everyone produced a beautiful Cornish-inspired painting, and we are incredibly proud of the fantastic artwork created. We can’t wait to display these special pieces at our 200th birthday celebrations tomorrow, where they will help showcase the creativity and talent of our wonderful pupils.

This afternoon, we had fun posting our invitations to our 200th anniversary party (this Friday 3:00-4:30) around the village.

We are getting the bunting ready to go up for our 200th Anniversary celebration on Friday (17th July).
It’s astonishing how far you can go and still find people who’ve been to Coads Green School: on Friday, a steward at the SS Great Britain in Bristol, on our Residential visit, turned out to have been a Coads parent in 2010! An invite to come along on Friday was extended to him, of course.
If you or anyone you know is a former pupil, parent of staff member of Coads Green School, then please join us from 3-4:30 for a trip down memory lane (as well as a trip to the ice cream van and some afternoon tea).
