Here is some advice to help this transition from Cornwall Council.
See you all very soon 🙂

As the summer holidays enter their final few weeks, we’re feeling a real mix of excitement and nerves here at St Stephens Community Academy-and we know many of you will be feeling exactly the same. It’s completely natural for children (and grown-ups!) to have a few worries about heading back to school, alongside all the excitement of a new year ahead.

The Department for Education has some helpful advice and tips on starting or returning to school, which you can find here:https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6a856b28c9205b515d421e7d/The_back-to-school_reset_guide.pdf

All families today have also received our staffing update and key information for the new school year — please do keep an eye out for this, as it’s always useful to have to hand at this time of year.

We hope you’re all having a wonderful summer, and we can’t wait to hear about your adventures when we welcome you back on Monday 7th September.

Time2Move Summer Success at St Stephens Community Academy

St Stephens has been buzzing this summer as we hosted two brilliant weeks of the Time2Move programme, bringing children from across the area together for a summer packed with activity, laughter and new friendships Time2Move runs across the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays and is open to children aged 5 to 16, with government-funded places available for those eligible for free school meals.

Thanks to the continued support of Argyle Community Trust East Cornwall & North Devon participants have had the chance to try their hand at football, dodgeball, climbing and even a mini sports day, all while making new friends and building lasting memories. A hot lunch is provided each day too, so everyone leaves with full tummies as well as big smiles.

An enormous thanks to the team running the events over the past few weeks . Your positivity and enthusiasm have made the whole experience so special for the children involved .
It has been wonderful to see so many children get active, get outdoors and get involved during the holidays.

Thanks also to Community Champion in the Launceston Store for the donation of fresh fruit for the children to enjoy …sorry they had eaten it all before we had a chance to get some photos!!

For more information about the programme, or to find out about free school meals places for future sessions , please contact Jack Gaynor at

Good luck to everyone collecting results today.

Today, thousands of young people across England, Wales and Northern Ireland are opening their GCSE, BTEC and Level 2 results. Whatever this morning holds, we want you to know how proud we are of the hard work, resilience and determination it’s taken to get here.

A special mention to our formerSt Stephens Community Academy family, right here in Launceston, receiving results today. We remember you, we’re thinking of you, and we could not be prouder of the young people you’ve become.

Whichever pathway your results take you down, college, sixth form, an apprenticeship or something else entirely, we wish you every success. When one of us shines, we ALL shine.

Happy Wednesday everyone. We hope you are having fun in the sun . Here is another informative guide . This week the team are looking at digital content . Please do make time to follow the link and find out more . Thank you

AI-generated content, cloned voices, deepfake videos and fabricated screenshots are making it harder for young people to recognise what is genuine online.

Our latest guide supports parents, carers and educators in helping children build the confidence and critical thinking skills needed to question digital content.

The guide explores:
• How AI-generated content and deepfakes can appear convincing
• Why familiar voices, polished presentation and repeated claims should not automatically be trusted
• Risks linked to fake accounts, impersonation and misinformation
• The importance of source-checking and verifying messages through another route
• How adults can respond when harmful or deceptive content targets a child

With clear, practical advice, this resource helps adults strengthen digital literacy and support safer, more informed online experiences.

Whilst we are excited about the new school year ahead, we’ve also been looking back on all the wonderful achievements and opportunities we have shared together as a school community.

We know the mixed emotions our former Year 6 children must be feeling about the new adventures ahead of them. Here are a few photos of their “last supper” with us — the class voted on their favourite school lunches, and our wonderful kitchen team made it happen. Not only did they cook up a storm, but they decorated the hall for this special social occasion too.

Just remember, once a member of Team Stephens Community Academy, you will always be an honorary member. We do hope you’ll keep us updated, and maybe pop in when you have a free moment to let us see “how you’ve grown.”

Our free My Brilliant Summer magazine is packed with fun activities, wellbeing tips and inspiration for the school holidays, from making hedgehog houses to taking on a kindness challenge.

Good luck and well done to all students receiving their A-levels, T-levels, BTecs, and AS-levels results today, especially our former St Stephens Community Academy pupils. Whatever the outcome, we are immensely proud of the effort you've put in, and we hope today reflects that hard work and opens the door to whatever comes next for you.
And if things haven't gone quite the way you'd hoped, please know that doesn't define your future. There are many paths forward, and often the most rewarding journeys take a route we didn't originally plan for.
