Today, Becca and almost 100 others from the voluntary youth work sector came together to explore an emerging vision and roadmap for the transformative change needed across the sector.

We got to hear of the two new reports, developed though the ongoing work that NICVA and other representative organisations from the voluntary youth sector had been working on. We also got to hear the true impact of this work from a young person that was involved in the process and receive some advice on how we can keep young people at the centre of what we do!

A great day of networking, discussions and learning! 👏

🌟 Investing in Our Team at Larne YMCA 🌟
From Thursday 1st October to Saturday 3rd October, our team at Larne YMCA took part in three days of learning, development, and team building! 💙

The training was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen our knowledge, develop new skills, reflect on our practice, and invest in our staff — all of which supports our wider strategic aims at Larne YMCA.

We were delighted to welcome One World NI, who delivered an insightful session helping us build our knowledge and understanding around refugees, the issues and challenges they face, and how we can provide meaningful support within our community. 🤝

Our training also included:

🩹 First Aid Training – developing essential skills and confidence to respond effectively in an emergency.

📚 Online Training through High Speed Training – covering important areas including COSHH and Challenging Behaviour, helping us strengthen our knowledge and ensure we continue to provide a safe, effective and supportive environment.

💪 Team Building Activities – providing an opportunity to strengthen relationships, improve communication, work together and, of course, have some fun along the way!

This three-day programme directly supported three of our four strategic aims:

✨ Strengthen our organisation to ensure we are sustainable and relevant – by continuing to develop the knowledge, skills and capacity of our staff and ensuring we remain responsive to the needs of our community.

✨ Enhance our service provision – by equipping our team with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to deliver safe, inclusive and high-quality services.

✨ Invest in people – by creating opportunities for our staff to learn, grow, develop and work together as a strong team.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and to our fantastic trainers for sharing their knowledge, experience and expertise. 👏

At Larne YMCA, we believe that investing in our people strengthens our organisation and helps us provide better services and support to the communities we serve. ❤️

We are so pleased to be able to share that we have been successful in another two applications with PeacePlus, this funding will play a vital role in the delivery of Basketball camps, training and events through Larne Lakers Sports Club and structured social, creative and physical activities for young people with ASD and ADHD through Larne YMCA ASP!

We want to thank all of our staff both face to face and in management positions for their tireless work week in and week out, without whom none of what we do would be possible!!

A lot of work has went on behind the scenes and we can’t wait to be able to share the impact that these funding opportunities have had on the delivery of both of these fantastic programmes as they come into play over the next couple of months!

Special EU Programmes Body - SEUPB YMCA Ireland
