🌟 Promoting Independence in Our 3–5 Room 🌟

We are excited to share a lovely part of our daily routine in the 3–5 room – the children are now signing themselves in each morning! ✏️

When the children arrive, they find their name and sign themselves in. This simple routine supports so many important skills including independence, early literacy, name recognition, and a sense of belonging within the room.

The children take great pride in doing this themselves, and it’s a wonderful way to start the day by giving them ownership of their learning environment. 💫

We love seeing their confidence grow as they recognise their names and take responsibility for their daily routine!

Well done everyone in the 3–5 room 👏

Today in preschool, the children explored a portion control measuring activity with a strong focus on numeracy skills. 🥣🔢

Children chose how much of each item they would like and used scoops and measuring tools to carefully count and measure their portions.

Using everyday experiences like snack time to embed mathematical thinking helps children see that numbers and measuring are part of real life — making learning meaningful and engaging. 🌟

Risky play is an important and valuable part of learning in Early Years 🌿

At our setting, we understand that children learn best when they are given opportunities to test their limits, explore challenges and build confidence in their own abilities. Risky play doesn’t mean unsafe play — it means managed, meaningful opportunities for children to assess risk, solve problems and develop resilience.

🌿 Tyre Swing Fun in the Garden! 🌿

The children have been making the most of our tyre swings in the garden, and they have been a huge hit! 😊

Lots of laughter, excitement and teamwork as the children take turns, push their friends gently and enjoy the feeling of swinging back and forth. It’s been lovely to see them negotiating whose turn it is, supporting one another and building friendships through play.

🚒✨ Exciting day at nursery! ✨🚒

Yesterday we had a very special visit from a real fire engine today! The children loved exploring the truck, seeing all the equipment, and learning about the important work of our local firefighters.

Big thanks to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service for visiting and making today so memorable. The smiles, questions, and excitement from our little ones say it all – what a fun, unforgettable experience! ❤️🔥

🌟 Celebrating Our Children’s Achievements 🌟

Every day at nursery, our children achieve amazing things — and we make sure to celebrate every single one of them!

From building tall block towers (and trying again when they tumble down!) to putting on their own coat, sharing with a friend, recognising their name, or using new words in conversation — these are all huge milestones in early years. 🧱✨

When a child proudly builds a tower, staff are right there to notice, encourage and extend the learning. We might count the blocks together, talk about making it “taller” or “stronger,” or take a photo to share their success with you. These moments build confidence, resilience and problem-solving skills.

The children went on a bug hunt in the garden, spotting and ticking off each little creature they found! 🐛🐞 Using their observation skills and curiosity, they carefully searched under leaves, in the grass, and around plants to see who was hiding.

This activity helped the children develop counting, attention to detail, and teamwork, all while having lots of fun exploring nature. Every new discovery was celebrated with excitement and shared with friends — a perfect way to mix learning and play!

The children were fascinated watching flags dance in the wind in our garden. They noticed how the fabric moved, fluttered, and changed direction, sparking lots of conversations about weather, movement, and what they could see happening.

This simple experience encouraged curiosity and observation as the children explored cause and effect — discovering how the wind can make things move. There were plenty of smiles as they ran alongside the flags, feeling the breeze and enjoying the moment.

Sometimes the simplest sights create the biggest sense of wonder and exploration. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
