Blackwood Music Academy is starting a brand-new Musical Adventures Class for Adults — a relaxed place for ordinary folk to get together, have a laugh and discover that you actually CAN play a whole song from beginning to end! 🎉

And absolutely NO audition required. 😱😂

After that, it’s just £26 per month if you decide you’d like to stay.

We already have a drum kit, piano, bass amp, microphones and PA set up and waiting — so no need to arrive looking like you’re moving house. 😂

Bring your guitar if that’s your thing, bring your voice if you sing, or just bring whatever musical ability has been gathering dust for the last 10, 20 or 30 years!

This isn’t about being brilliant.

Cameron Buchanan is an established in person and online guitar tutor. He very much enjoys teaching all ages/ stages (and beginners!) and is happy to be involved with the Blackwood Academy. During his career, Cameron has worked as a class music teacher/ peripatetic guitar instructor and private tutor. Currently, along with his tutoring, he is guitar lecturer at Perth UHI (the University of the Highlands and Islands) where he teaches to degree level. He holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Leeds and is a graduate of the Leeds College of Music, a licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (contemporary guitar performance) and an associate of the London College of Music (classical guitar performance). In addition, Cameron has been registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland since 1998. As a performer, he has appeared on BBC broadcasts, at international jazz festivals and at some of the country’s most prestigious corporate venues (Gleneagles Hotel, Glamis Castle etc.) and has studied privately with Mike Stern (Miles Davis/ Blood, Sweat and Tears) and Ron Block (of Alison Krauss and Union Station).

Music has been at the heart of my life for decades, and I love helping students discover what they can achieve. ❤️

Meet Raymond!

Raymond is a Falkirk based vocal coach, educator and performer who helps to train both adults and children. A graduate of the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama in Dublin, he specialises in supporting boys through vocal change, helping them develop confidence while maintaining healthy vocal techniques during this important stage.

Alongside his teaching, Raymond has performed in venues across the UK, Ireland and Europe, bringing valuable professional insight into his work with students. He has worked with organisations including NYCOS in Perth and East Dunbartonshire, and the Diane Mitchell School of Music in Paisley, as well as teaching a diverse range of private pupils.

Trained in the Kodaly method of musicianship, Raymond integrates a strong, holistic approach to music education within his practice. He adopts a person-centred approach to teaching, guiding each pupil according to their individual goals and musical journey.

🎹🎻 A very warm welcome to Pavlo & Delight! 🎻🎹

This weekend was a special one at Blackwood Music Academy, as our two newest tutors, Pavlo and Delight, taught their first lessons with us! 🖤💛

We’re absolutely delighted to have two such talented and dedicated musicians joining our teaching team.

🎹 Pavlo – Piano
Pavlo has an extensive musical background, having studied at a prestigious music school followed by three years at Music College, gaining qualifications in piano performance, teaching and music theory. He has worked as a piano teacher, accompanist and freelance musician and is now continuing his studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

As well as being a fantastic pianist, Pavlo has a lovely, calm approach to teaching and is passionate about helping pupils develop strong foundations, confidence and musicianship.

🎹🎻 Delight – Piano & Violin
Delight is an accomplished pianist and violinist, holding an ATCL Diploma in Piano Performance and ARSM in Violin Performance, as well as a BMus (Hons) degree in Piano Performance from the University of Aberdeen, where she graduated with a 2:1.

She has performed extensively as both an orchestral pianist and first violinist and was awarded scholarships from the North East of Scotland Music School from 2021–2025, alongside bursaries recognising her work in conducting and music education.

We feel incredibly lucky to have them both joining our growing team and are really looking forward to seeing their pupils progress with them over the months and years ahead. ❤️
