BOCCIA | Boccia is a precision ball sport, similar to bowling, in which players throw leather balls to place them closest to a white target ball called the jack. 🔴⚪🔵

Pupils are invited to give the sport a try during Monday lunchtimes in the main sports hall with qualified Boccia Coach, Charlie Bethune. 👍

Pupils Layna P and Joss S last week joined pupils from all other secondary schools in the region at the annual Young Sports Ambassador Conference, an inspiring event organised by Active Schools and Community Sport designed to develop leadership skills and promote active lifestyles. ⚽️🎾🏉🏀

Throughout the day, young ambassadors took part in a variety of workshops and activities focused on teamwork, communication, inclusion, and the importance of physical activity. The conference provided pupils with the opportunity to share ideas, learn from experienced sports leaders, and gain practical skills that they can use to encourage participation in sport and physical activity within their own schools. 👍

The young people got to meet guest and 2 x Olympic Silver Medallist, Hammy McMillan and heard about his journey through his highs and lows in curling and what it takes to become an elite athlete. From Stranraer to representing Team GB on the world stage, Hammy proved that no matter where you come from or what barriers you face, anything is possible with hard work and dedication. 🥈🥈🇬🇧

The enthusiasm, confidence, and leadership on display by all young people highlighted the important role and opportunity that a Young Sports Ambassadors can play in promoting health, wellbeing, and inclusion for all. 🙌

Huge congratulations to our S4 pupil, Abbie L, who has given up her own time to volunteer 50 hours to support Razzamataz classes for younger children, and at the Xcel Project. In doing so, Abbey has earned herself a Saltire Award. Well done Abbey- we are very proud of you! ⭐️
