Our Preschool leavers had a wonderful farewell tea party in the grounds of Lancing College! They were enthralled and entertained by the wonderful Mr Pineapple Head before a fun outdoor tea in the shade of the trees by the College Chapel. Finally they were presented with their leaving gifts from their key person and the nursery manager. We hope they leave us with happy memories of their time at Little Lancing, and ready for what lies ahead of them. We will miss them all and wish them all the very best for the future. Little Lancing is also looking forward to an exciting future, with our new Rising Reception rooms opening in September this year. The nursery is very busy now with the rooms for younger children now fully subscribed but we will have some spaces available for children in their final year of nursery education before starting Reception! As part of their Rising Reception Enrichment programme, the Preschool children had a wonderful visit from Digby and Don, the Shetland ponies from the Little Hoof Company with Tinka, their owner! The children enjoyed getting to know the ponies, learning how to groom them and leading them on a walk around our Forest School field.

We are expanding! From September, we will be creating two new rooms for Rising Reception children in the flint cottage adjacent to the main nursery office building. The gardens will be opened out to create a larger site between the two buildings.
We are also splitting our toddler age group across two rooms in the main building. This has already enabled us to take many more children over the coming year, as younger children will move up better through the nursery rooms.
We have space available in the new Rising Reception rooms from September 2026 for children who will are in their final year of nursery education and who will be joining primary education in Reception in September 2027. Parents interested in places for that age group should make an enquiry now via https://bit.ly/LLenquiryform
We have also opened up our waiting list for for younger children with starts from September 2027 onwards as our baby and toddler rooms are fully booked until then. Admissions for September 2027 will be looked at in the autumn and early 2027.

Jovita Opio, Nursery Manager, is delighted that Little Lancing will be able to give more children from the local community an opportunity to attend the nursery and that current nursery staff have been able to progress in their careers.

Our Preschool children have had a wonderful time over recent weeks visiting Coombes Farm, Lambing as part of our enrichment programme. They saw lots of new-born lambs, watched the piglets playing in their pen and met some very friendly calves! There was an exciting tractor ride up to the top of the hill above the farm where they saw lambs out in the fields, a kestrel, some skylarks and a wonderful view over the river Adur and the Downs. Our thanks to the team at Coombs who made us so welcome. The children were enthralled by all they saw and after a busy morning, returned to nursery ready for their lunch!
