🌼 Dandelion Shortbread biscuits 😋

Dandelions are everywhere at the moment and the children have loved picking them and daisies. Yesterday we took a look at lots of dandelions in their various stages of growth, and pulled some up to look at the roots underneath too.

We then made some rather delicious dandelion biscuits for a snack.

I love baking with the children, the ones who have been with me for a while now can remember key points of the process.

Yesterday afternoon, my little helpers built the greenhouse for all our .gang fruit and vegetables to grow in.

I was so impressed with the skills they used for this:

💚Following instructions
💚Problem solving
💚Teamwork
💚Taking turns
💚Encouraging each other
💚Patience
💚Resilience
💚Physical strength
💚Listening
💚Asking questions
💚Showing pride in their achievements
💚 Sorting
💚 Matching
💚 Shape recognition
💚Learning about the world around them

It wasn't easy, but we did it together, and the best thing was how proud they were to share their achievements with their families. We're planting our February box this afternoon, they can't wait to get some of the things we're growing out there!

Let's give children more hands-on, real-life experiences and the credit that they are capable 🥰 We can buy all the resources in the world, but really they want to be doing the big stuff grown-ups do 😉

Vehicles!!

All of the children have been showing a particular interest in vehicles this term, we are so fortunate to be able to see and hear so many from my house. Today we took a trip on the bus, I thought the most exciting part of our day would be the train ride - and it was fun!

However we then stumbled across these diggers on the beach. The extremely kind drivers saw us watching them move them onto the beach and offered for us to have a photo right next to them before they started the work! I love how these unexpected things happen in our days 💕

Learning doesn't have to be formal - in fact the best learning is hands on/real life unexpected learning disguised as fun!

One of the little ones turned 4 today 🥳

We celebrated this dinosaur loving dude with a play session in the forest at , and boy I'm glad we did.

The hour went so fast, the children weren't bothered by the cold (thanks to their grown ups for providing plenty of suitable layers for the weather) and played endlessly for the full hour.

It was pretty magical to see thier imaginations bloom 💛

🚂 Bluebell railway 🚂

We're so lucky to have such a unique place to visit. We rode from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead and back again- the children and I often get modern trains on days out, but taking them on a steam train felt very special.
Watching the engine uncouple and change from one end of the carriages to the other was very exciting!

Thank you for having us ☺️

🥞 We've also been shopping for pancake ingredients for shrove Tuesday!

(We're going to pretend it hasn't been months since I last posted on my socials 🤫 the tiny humans have kept me busy, and they absolutely come first 🥰 but I will try and be more present here when I can 🤞🏼)

💛 Lately 💛

I always get so busy with the tiny humans, I forget about this little corner of the world! See captions below for what we've been up to... 🥰

1. On a trip to Sheffeild Park Gardens, a little one was able to feed the ducks. This was HUGE for her because she's often too scared to get close to them, but has wanted to keep trying. To say I was proud of her is such an understatement 💓

2. We recently made scones & had a delicious afternoon tea 🫖

3. Diggers (and tractors) have been a particular point of interest lately - we got muddy with them in the tuff tray 🚜

4. We spent a great albeit wet afternoon visiting the tiger who came to tea themed trail at Nymans Gardens 🐯

5. The children picked and ate some delicious purple carrots and strawberries from Roundstone PYO 🍓

6. Fun at one of our favourite places - the beach 🌊

7. Drusillas! A special trip for a special friend... This little lady has been with me since she was 9months old and she's now going to school at 4 and a half! Really enjoyed this special day out before she goes. ❤️

8. Drawing on the new pads ( this one being a portrait of me)! 🖍

9. Rescuing a frog in the garden - I'd love to say it was me who helped, but our brave little 3 year old persevered for 45 minutes to get up close to this guy 🐸

10. All time favourite of splashing in muddy puddles! 💦
