Lancaster Royal Grammar School

Lancaster Royal Grammar School Welcome to the Lancaster Royal Grammar School Official page, which highlights our latest news and events. I look forward to meeting you.

LRGS is a state day and boarding school for boys aged 11 to 16 with a coeducational Sixth Form. It is one of the UK's top performing grammar schools for boys. As a state school, education is free for all pupils. Boarding costs only about a third of the fees payable at independent schools and is rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. There are 1200 pupils at the school, including 170 boarders and a thriving Sixth Form of 350 students. We challenge the brightest students in the North West of England, along with boarders from further afield, to fulfil their potential. The values central to LRGS are those of academic and extra-curricular excellence and opportunity, within a diverse and tolerant community: these form the best possible foundation for future life. Our pupils achieve outstanding exam results and we have a national reputation for sporting excellence. The atmosphere of the school is vibrant and inspiring – and fun! The School is particularly proud of the warmth of the relationships between pupils and staff, and of the quality of pastoral care. I hope you will be inspired to come and see for yourself what makes Lancaster Royal Grammar School special. Dr C J Pyle
Headmaster
