Salary: £15.00 per hour
Hours: Permanent, Minimum 33 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 4 days per week (Includes 2x 8:00am starts and 2x 6:00pm finishes)

Due to an exciting period of expansion, our welcoming, family-run private day nursery is growing! We now have two fantastic leadership positions available across our beautifully equipped Lancaster sites.
Are you an experienced Early Years leader looking for a role that perfectly balances hands-on teaching with dedicated management time? This unique role is meticulously split to give you the best of both worlds: 2 days completely office-based to focus on administration, compliance, and leadership, and 2 days counted in the floor ratios to inspire our staff and interact with our wonderful children.

Key Responsibilities
• Nursery Leadership: Support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of your designated site, stepping up to lead in their absence.
• Office & Administration (2 Days): Manage parent enquiries, update learning software, assist with staff rotas, and ensure strict compliance with EYFS framework and Ofsted regulations.
• Practice & Mentoring (2 Days): Work directly on the floor in ratio, role-modelling exceptional early years practice, mentoring room leaders, and ensuring high-quality care.
• Safeguarding: Act as a Deputy DSL to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
What We Are Looking For
• Qualifications: A minimum of a full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (Level 5, Degree, or EYTS is highly desirable).
• Experience: Proven experience as a Deputy Manager, Third-in-Charge, or an experienced Senior Room Leader looking to step up, or a practitioner with more than 2 years experience.
• Flexibility: Ability to work a rota that includes two 8:00am starts and two 6:00pm finishes.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of the EYFS, excellent communication skills, and confidence using nursery management software.

We are delighted to announce due to the expansion of our Lancaster site, we have openings available for September 2026. Spaces are available for infants (0-2), toddlers (2 years), and preschoolers (3-4 years). Our center is open 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, all year round (51 weeks) We accept children with funded and non-funded places, including those eligible for 30 hours free childcare, who can choose from three flexible hour options. Our fees are all-inclusive, with no hidden charges. We do not charge for bank holidays and provide a warm, engaging fun environment where children can thrive through play-based learning.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to share some exciting news with you about the future of Tiny Treasures Nursery!

Over the years, we have been incredibly proud to support so many children and families in our community. As our nursery continues to grow, we are pleased to announce that we will be expanding our provision by opening a new Pre-School Setting for children aged 3–4 years at Moorside Primary School.

This exciting development will provide our older children with a dedicated pre-school environment, designed to further support their independence, confidence, and school readiness. Being located within the grounds of a primary school will also help children become familiar with a school setting, making the transition to Reception an even more positive experience. However, the nursery will be privately run by the Tiny Treasures family and therefore independent from the school. Also attending the pre-school at Moorside, does not mean that your child will automatically be granted admission to that school, once your child is of school age.

As part of this change, our current nursery setting will focus on providing care and education for babies and children up to their third birthday. Children will then move on to our new pre-school setting, where they will continue their learning journey with the support of our experienced and caring team.

We understand that any change can bring questions, and we want to reassure you that maintaining continuity for children and families is our priority. We are working hard to ensure that the transition between settings is smooth, familiar, and enjoyable. Children will have opportunities to visit the new pre-school, spend time with staff, and become comfortable in their new environment before moving across.

THE PHONE CALL NO PARENT WANTS… AND NO EDUCATOR WANTS TO MAKE

There are few phone calls parents dread more than the one from daycare saying their child is unwell.

Because behind that call is often immediate stress.

Work meetings needing to be cancelled.
Shift changes.
Trying to organise who can leave.
The guilt of not being there already.
The worry about your child.

We see that.

We understand that for many families, one sick day can create a ripple effect through the entire week.

And we know most parents are not frustrated because they don’t care.

Usually it’s because they care deeply… while trying to hold together lives that already feel very full.

But we also want to gently share another side too.

Making those calls is hard for educators as well.

Because we know what it means when we make them.

We know the stress it can cause.
We know some parents will feel overwhelmed or upset.
We know many are already stretched emotionally, mentally and financially.

And the truth is…

No educator enjoys calling a parent to say their child is sick.

But when we do, it always comes from one place:

Care.

Care for your child who needs comfort and support.
Care for the other children in the environment.
Care for the wellbeing of our educators too.

Our team are not trying to make your day harder.

They are trying to do what is safest and kindest in a difficult moment.

And sometimes, because emotions are high, frustrations can land on the people making the call.

The educator.
The receptionist.
The team member who is simply following health guidelines and trying to support everyone involved.

But behind those calls are humans too.

People who have spent the day comforting your child.
Cleaning up vomit.
Holding children while they cry.
Trying to protect the health of an entire centre environment.

And they deserve kindness too.

We truly believe this is one of those situations where everyone is often doing their best inside a system that can feel incredibly hard.

Parents are stretched.
Educators are stretched.

And at the centre of it all is a child who simply needs care.

So maybe what we all need in these moments is a little more understanding for each other.

A little more softness.

Because none of us are the enemy here.

We are all just trying to navigate the realities of raising and caring for children in a world that often asks too much of everyone.

And despite the hard days, the phone calls, the tears and the stress…

Please know this:

We care deeply about your children.

And we care about you too.

Following on from the children’s interest in fairytales and our recent exploration of Jack and the Beanstalk, we decided to grow our own “mini beanstalks”. To do this, we planted cress seeds and discussed what plants might need in order to grow. The children shared their ideas, suggesting that seeds need water and sunlight. One child excitedly said, “My beanstalk is gonna grow way, way big!” 🌱 🌞 💧

Over the following week, we placed the seeds on the windowsill and made sure to water them every day. The children enjoyed observing the changes and growth that occurred, noticing how the small seeds began to sprout and grow taller each day. We talked about how the sunlight and water were helping the plants to grow.

Once the cress had grown, we carefully cut it and had the opportunity to taste it. Some children commented that it tasted “spicy”, while others said they liked the taste. This led to discussions about food and where it comes from. One child asked if the cress was healthy, which opened up a conversation about healthy foods and how plants can be grown and eaten.

The children then began to think about what else we might be able to grow. Some suggested planting more seeds outside, and one child said they would like to grow a tomato. This sparked curiosity about different fruits and vegetables and how they grow. 🍅 🍓 🥕

As such, this sparked the childrens curiosity, developed their understanding for growth, decay, planting and caring, grew their awareness about their natural environment, and opened the conversation to healthy food habits.

This morning, the children were interested in cars 🚗 so we decided to make our own road to drive our cars on. We added places that we have seen within our local community, including shops such as Sainsbury's and Aldi, and Williamson Park. One child said "me and mummy go to Sainsbury's for tea!".
We then had a group discussion about what roads are for, what we may see, and road safety. From our discussion, children said "red means stop!", "look left and right", and "we need traffic lights!".
From this, the children talked about what they see, extended their knowledge of road safety, and began to feel a sense of membership within their community.
