We have had over 1,100 applications to our Student Money support offering for the 26/27 academic year 😍

This is the largest number of applications we have had and we are so glad that are able to offer the support that is needed to our students.

Whether it be for travel, meals, additional course expenses, childcare or course tuition fees on an advanced learner loan, LMC strives to ensure all students are given access to funding where applicable.

Huge thanks goes to The Banks Lyon Memorial Trust and The George Fox School Educational Charity for their ongoing support with generous grants.

The Access Diploma is specifically designed for people aged 19 years and over who want to progress onto university.

Perhaps you've taken a break from education due to other commitments but have always wanted to gain the qualifications you missed at school, or maybe you’ve discovered that the career you want requires university level qualifications.

Past students generally progress to universities including Cumbria, UCLan, Lancaster, Manchester, Leeds, York, Exeter, Newcastle or Sheffield. They study a variety of degrees, such as nursing, midwifery, occupational therapy, radiography, social work, youth and community work, teaching, history, sociology, law, psychology, biomedical sciences or sports therapy.

Katie Topping, T Level Health student from 2024-2026, has just WON the 2026 North West Regional T Level Student of the Year Award at the Apprenticeship and Skills Awards and is through to the National final!

Investing in our campus is something we take seriously here at LMC and always make decisions based on the experiences of our students.

We have recently developed the space in The Hexagon Student Learning Centre to include learning pods for up to 4 people at a time, to quietly study in a comfortable setting. We removed lines of old computers and computer chairs and these new pods are already proving to be a great hit!

A reminder for students that in The Hex you will find resources, pastoral support, IT support, careers advice, student money and admissions.

Did you know.. today is National Barista Day?

Here at LMC in The Bay Restaurant at LMC, our Front of House students get first hand training when it comes to barista skills from our highly skilled tutor, Olly.

They get to make everything from a simple filter coffee to a fancy latte and even have a go at making some coffee art!

Last week our Hospitality and Catering students visited Lakeside Hotel to get a behind the scenes look at a fully functioning hotel, spa and restaurant service.

Getting a real insight into the industry gives our students the chance to perfect their skills, ready for their future careers.

Not only did they get to sample some of the cuisine, take a look at a lake view bedroom and step into the huge freezers, they also got to soak up lots of knowledge in the CV and interview workshop.

A huge thank you to the team for having us, it was a great day and we can't wait to come back again in the future! ✨

Former The Lakes School student Jade enrolled at Lancaster & Morecambe College in September 2025 to study the Access to HE Diploma, and took the Health & Social Care route.

Driven by her goal to progress to higher education, Jade chose LMC as the stepping stone to progressing to a degree in Occupational Therapy.
