Welcome to Cawthorne’s Endowed School’s Website

Our school is situated in an idyllic location in the Forest of Bowland, within an area of outstanding natural beauty, and at the centre of the village of Abbeystead. It was founded by William Cawthorne in 1664 and has been educating children ever since. We are proud of our small size (maximum of 6 children per year group) as this means children receive individual attention which is modified to their needs, and are educated within a supportive, family atmosphere. We carefully monitor every child’s progress and give support to children when needed so we ensure everyone makes progress. Community is important to us and every child has a valuable contribution to make. Please contact us and make an appointment to come and see us at work.

For this half term we have been focusing on the wonderful stories by rachelbrightbooks for PSED. So far we have had a dinosaur focus for The Hugasaurus, we have made and shared crispy cakes and looked for squirrels for The Squirrels Who Squabbled. Then we read The Lion Inside to remind ourselves that it’s important to be brave, this week we have made salt dough and CD fish because we read The Whale Who Wanted More. Our older children have even used the same story each week for their PSHE focus in assembly. We love the messages in these stories and we can’t wait to read another story next week 🌟
