A Grammar School for Girls in Lancaster, UK

We have been celebrating an excellent set of A-level results today, with Year 13 students achieving impressive outcomes that reflect their hard work, determination and love of learning.

Overall, 44% of all grades were A* or A, with 71% of students achieving grades A* to B. We are proud of every student’s achievements: some have had to overcome significant barriers to achieve what they have this summer, and their success is a tribute to their resilience and determination, as well as to the excellent teaching and support they have received from their teachers.

Seven students achieved three or more A* grades, including three who gained four A* grades. A further 23 students achieved A* or A grades in at least three subjects.

These impressive results mean that our students have secured places at their chosen universities to study a wide range of courses including Medicine, Dentistry, Vet Science, Law, History, Modern Languages, Fine Art, Maths, Creative Writing, Politics, Psychology, Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) and Geography.

Julie Dobson, Head of Sixth Form, praised students who she said had worked incredibly hard to achieve these impressive results. She said:

“This has been an inspirational year group, who quickly created a positive and supportive community, where everyone felt a strong sense of belonging. They have also had a great impact on the wider school community, taking every opportunity to develop their leadership skills and being fantastic role models for those who follow in their footsteps.

The outstanding results they have achieved this summer will enable our students to set off with confidence on the next steps of their journey, and we look forward to seeing what they go on to do next.”

Chris Beard, Headteacher, added:

“I am immensely proud of our Year 13 students and all that they have achieved. These results reflect not only their academic ability, but also their commitment, resilience and ambition. They have contributed so much to LGGS, both in and beyond the classroom, and they leave with our congratulations and very best wishes for the future. I would also like to thank our dedicated staff and supportive families, whose encouragement and care have played such an important part in helping our students reach this point.”
