You can pop along and see an art exhibition made by the children at Nursery as part of the Maritime Festival.
Come and along and see your child’s artwork on full display in such an iconic setting.

A big thank you to one of our lovely parents Matt who came into Preschool today to help us cook with vegetables grown in our own garden. We cooked our very own furnace barn grade courgettes, beetroot, apples picked from our amazing pink lady apple trees and even home grown herbs. We did buy some carrots 😝🤪
The children selected their own combinations and Matt helped us make fritters and they went down a treat ❤️
We are very blessed to have such wonderful parents and a sense of community, the children had a wonderful experience today.

1pm onwards ~ Ruby Wren Fest ‘The Big Picnic’

A couple of notes:

• It is CASH ONLY - there will be raffle tickets on sale along with ice-cream and a few cakes and a donation box next to tea & coffee making facilities
• The driveway to nursery will be NO ACCESS - this is to keep the entrance and car park safe for you and your children. Parking will be along the main road or on the road leading to nursery, we encourage walking where possible.
• Bring a plate, sweet or savoury, to share - this will be added to a table for everyone to enjoy (like a big Jacob’s joint). Please be mindful, if you have allergies, that some foods may be homemade therefore have no ingredients list
• We have bracelet making, glitter tattoos, a sensory room, colouring & crafts, music, digger land, sand land and our preschool toys ALL FREE

This year is all about COMMUNITY, where we come together, have loads of chilled fun, show a beautiful family that we are all here and make Ruby feel special & loved

Hi everyone! We would like to invite you to this year’s Ruby Wren Fest with a twist! For the last 2 years we have hosted a successful event and with your help raised nearly £4000 for Team Ruby & The Lily Foundation. Ruby Marshall was one of our amazing little humans we looked after since the age of 2, sadly at 6 months old Ruby was diagnosed with a life limiting mitochondrial disease called Pearsons syndrome, for which there is no known cure. Ruby is currently thriving in reception and we feel having a fun family day to celebrate another fabulous successful year of Ruby would be a lovely way to come to together and celebrate the huge milestones that she is achieving. Unlike the previous years, this is not a fundraising event and more of an opportunity for our community to come together and have fun on the field, that being said donations are always welcome!

Ruby will always be part of our furnace barn family, as are all of our children, so we would love you to join us at our very first “Ruby Wren Fest - A Big Picnic”

THE PHONE CALL NO PARENT WANTS… AND NO EDUCATOR WANTS TO MAKE

There are few phone calls parents dread more than the one from daycare saying their child is unwell.

Because behind that call is often immediate stress.

Work meetings needing to be cancelled.
Shift changes.
Trying to organise who can leave.
The guilt of not being there already.
The worry about your child.

We see that.

We understand that for many families, one sick day can create a ripple effect through the entire week.

And we know most parents are not frustrated because they don’t care.

Usually it’s because they care deeply… while trying to hold together lives that already feel very full.

But we also want to gently share another side too.

Making those calls is hard for educators as well.

Because we know what it means when we make them.

We know the stress it can cause.
We know some parents will feel overwhelmed or upset.
We know many are already stretched emotionally, mentally and financially.

And the truth is…

No educator enjoys calling a parent to say their child is sick.

But when we do, it always comes from one place:

Care.

Care for your child who needs comfort and support.
Care for the other children in the environment.
Care for the wellbeing of our educators too.

Our team are not trying to make your day harder.

They are trying to do what is safest and kindest in a difficult moment.

And sometimes, because emotions are high, frustrations can land on the people making the call.

The educator.
The receptionist.
The team member who is simply following health guidelines and trying to support everyone involved.

But behind those calls are humans too.

People who have spent the day comforting your child.
Cleaning up vomit.
Holding children while they cry.
Trying to protect the health of an entire centre environment.

And they deserve kindness too.

We truly believe this is one of those situations where everyone is often doing their best inside a system that can feel incredibly hard.

Parents are stretched.
Educators are stretched.

And at the centre of it all is a child who simply needs care.

So maybe what we all need in these moments is a little more understanding for each other.

A little more softness.

Because none of us are the enemy here.

We are all just trying to navigate the realities of raising and caring for children in a world that often asks too much of everyone.

And despite the hard days, the phone calls, the tears and the stress…

Please know this:

We care deeply about your children.

And we care about you too.
