Introduction to Chinese Culture Series: Chinese Tea, Saturday 11 July, 1:30pm - Lancaster University A 10 week introduction to Chinese culture incorporating lectures and practical sessions. Each session has a different topic of Chinese culture.

'Emotional Regulation from the Perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine' with Dr Mingyue Li. All welcome.

The talk will cover:
🟡 The physiological and pathological relationships between human emotions (joy, anger, worry, thought, sorrow, fear, shock) and the five zang-organs (heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney).
🟡 TCM care for anxiety, depressive emotions, and test syndrome.
🟡 Coordinating the heart and brain, enhancing memory, improving learning efficiency, and enjoying a calm state of mind.

Mingyue Li is an Associate Professor in the College of Acupuncture and Tuina, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Students from two of Lancaster University Confucius Institute’s teaching sites are participating in the 18th Chinese Calligraphy Competition 2026, organised by the UK Association for the Promotion of Chinese Education.

This year marks the first participation of Anchorsholme Primary Academy in the national competition, while Hawes Side Academy is returning following its outstanding success in 2025.

On 8 May 2026, Lancaster University Confucius Institute was proud to host the world premiere of Ulverston filmmaker Steve Wharton's compelling documentary about John Barrow's trip to China towards the end of the 18th century.

The Confucius Institute welcomed around 50 guests to a special screening of Voyage East at Lancaster University, bringing together students, staff and members of the local community for an evening exploring the historical relationship between Britain and China.

On 7 May 2026, Dr Lihua Shi delivered a lecture titled “Living in the Earth: The Origins, Forms, and Renewal of China’s Yaodong Cave Dwellings” to staff and students from across the disciplines of art, architecture, environmental design, and Chinese studies at Lancaster University.
