Our second Begg's bakes sessions was full of smiles and fun.
The children enjoyed making some cheese straws we spoke about positive hygiene routines.
They loved getting hands-on, mixing, measuring, rolling and creating their very own cheesy straws!
Begg's Bakes will now be a fortnightly session in preschool. Children will be invited every fortnight, in small groups, to take part in a baking session with our Nursery Deputy.
Keeping the groups small allows every child to have a meaningful, hands-on baking experience, giving them plenty of opportunities to participate, explore, ask questions and develop new skills.

Balmoral preschool have enjoyed celebrating Recycling Week in nursery. The children have been busy exploring how we can help take care of our environment, and today they took part in a meaningful hands‑on activity.

This afternoon, some of the children went on a short walk in our local area to collect litter. They were brilliant at spotting rubbish and worked together to keep our community clean. Back at nursery, we sorted everything into the correct recycling bins — paper, plastic, metal and general waste — and talked about why recycling matters.

🍊🍌Gillian’s Little Bakers Going Bananas (and Mandarins!) at Our New Baking Club!

Balmoral launched our brand-new Baking Club this week, and our little chefs smashed it by making a Mandarin and Banana Trifle!

Baking helps children learn essential math, science, and life skills through fun, hands-on kitchen activities.

What a successful first session of Begg's Bakes!

The children were so excited to get stuck in and explore the wonderful world of baking. From start to finish, the learning was endless!
Our first session was packed with opportunities to develop skills and knowledge, from positive hygiene routines and healthy eating to exploring the science behind baking, developing our maths skills, following instructions, taking turns, sharing resources and working together. The list goes on!

During our first session, the children made delicious cheese straws. They loved getting hands-on, mixing, measuring, rolling and creating their very own cheesy straws!

Here at Westgate Total Tots, we are so excited to introduce Emma’s Little Sprouts, our new little allotment group.

Today, some of our little ones headed out with Emma to explore our nursery allotment, getting their hands muddy, investigating the natural world and learning through real, hands-on experiences.

Throughout September, the children will be exploring the changing seasons and the arrival of autumn . We’ll be learning all about Harvest Festival and where our food comes from, discovering winter vegetables, creating our very own scarecrow, and investigating the wildlife that shares our allotment with us – including hedgehogs, spiders and other minibeasts!

Our allotment is such a fantastic learning environment, giving our children opportunities to grow, explore, question, investigate and care for the world around them.

🎉 A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS TO EMMA! 🎉

We are absolutely delighted to celebrate Emma on successfully completing her Experienced Based Route (EBR) qualification in Early Years!

The EBR is a qualification pathway that enables experienced early years practitioners to gain a recognised qualification by demonstrating the knowledge, skills and competence they have developed through their work, alongside completing additional learning and assessment.

Over the past six months, Emma has worked incredibly hard towards achieving this fantastic qualification. As a valued member of the Total Tots team for the past seven years, Emma has continued to show dedication, commitment and a real passion for her role. Her wealth of experience, together with her determination to continue developing professionally, has enabled her to further strengthen her knowledge and understanding of early years practice.

A very special thank you also goes to Tasha, our Deputy, who has closely mentored and supported Emma throughout her EBR journey. As the first Deputy to pilot our EBR mentoring scheme, Tasha’s guidance, encouragement and dedication have played such an important part in Emma’s success.

We hope that being part of this journey has also been a valuable opportunity for Tasha to develop her leadership skills and further strengthen her own knowledge and understanding of early years practice.

Thank you, Tasha, for leading the way and making such a positive difference. Your commitment and support are truly appreciated.
