Moving to Heysham next month!

This summer, as I ll have a little more space, I will be able to bring home my dear piano, and another digital piano left in France all this time, 5 years in July.
So I'll have two digital piano and an upright piano.

I have moved around quite a bit in my "youth" requiring, each time, to buy a new piano πŸ˜…πŸŽΉπŸŽΆ.
I have given groups piano lesson before by age and level.
Maybe I can offer this again in the future.
Lovely spring break and Easter to everyone!

Currently in New Jersey, helping my son settle into his new hometown for the next four years.
This journey is also a moment of reflection and personal growth for me, and I know it will make me an even better teacher.

I'm looking forward to returning home and embracing the beautiful colors of autumn in Lancaster.
I'll be back on September 2nd, and lessons will resume on September 8th.

Feel free to message me if you'd like to arrange a time for the new school year.
Wishing everyone a lovely end of summer 🌿🎢

This year, I'm teaching the Trinity College program, and I love it because of all the choices they offer!

Last year, I presented my first student at the ABRSM, where she got "distinction," which gave me confidence in the whole process.

I hope my next students will do as well.

I think I prefer Trinity over the Associated Board, but at the end of the day they're pretty similar.

I'll start advertising for next year just after Easter, so if some of you think they might want to start the piano next year, 2025/2026, get ready.

I will take on just a couple more students.

I have been teaching the piano since I was 18 yo, some 30 years ago!
I started in Paris, taught in London during my Bachelor of Art in music, and back in France for a decade where I had my own school of piano and in New York during my Masters in music therapy.
I started teaching in Lancaster 3 years ago now.
I took a break for 6 months to revisit my philosophy of teaching, my pedagogy and approach which I had started at university.
I moved from France to the UK three years ago, and realised my approach had to evolve.
I realised that in the UK, students are somehow more serious, and I had to revisit my tool box which had been tailored to suit French culture.
Here, private teachers are as much an institution as schools which is different as pupils in France request a private teacher when they don't want to go throw the ache of music academy I went through.
So I had to adapted my teaching pedagogy and approach.
I now teach to beginners starting grade 1 to 8.
I have studied the curriculum of the ABRSM and of Trinity college.
All lesson is organised in 5 to 10 minutes sections of technic, with exercises leading to scales and arpeggios, sight-reading, 4 hands with me, and possibly with other students when organisable, which allows to develop the understanding of tempo and time while sharing music which is a component of playing the piano too, and repertoire pieces including reading and theory of music.
This lesson plan helps make the most of our 30 minutes lessons.
We meet once a week, and follow the school schedule.
I can take on a few more students age 7 to 17, as my availabilities are from 4.30 to 5pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
I follow the price of other teachers in the area, not to create an unfair competition to my profession colleagues, so you can expect the same price range.
I live near the Rowing Club in Lancaster, so there's a nice walk to be done in my area. It's a safe street with lots of parking spaces too. I allow parents in to meet me of course and to assist to one or two lessons but after this I encourage a one on one lesson as we need to create a safe and complicit work collaboration promoting independence in the practice dynamic.
I have my clear DBS check, from last year when I was teaching in town in Lancaster.

I'll be waiting for your calls and messages may you have any further questions.
Have a lovely day.
All my best,
Lia

Hi,
I'm Lia.
I am half french and half British.
I'm a piano teacher located in Lancaster.
I teach from home, have shared some photos, here, on my page of my music room earlier this year.
Teaching is sharing and that is my life purpose.
I have studied classical piano, theory, chamber music and performance in Paris and London.
I resumed my studies after my Masters in Music therapy in New York.
Now, I am teaching the piano in a fun yet serious way. I have presented students to The Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, and this year I am presenting students to Trinity board exams too.
I am not super keen on exams but I like the fact it gives both teacher and students a goal and a direction.
The most important for me however is to transmit my love of music!
Get in touch if you'd like to know more about my pedagogy.
I have some avaibility after school.
I only take on children who are motivated to learn. Learning the piano or any other instruments is rewarding and can truly be life changing. I teach children with special needs too using my music therapy approach.
Wishing everyone a nice half term.
I'll be waiting for your calls πŸ™πŸΌπŸŽΉπŸŽΆπŸŽ΅πŸŽΌ
