The Sixth Form at Ripley St Thomas goes beyond typical studies. We're proud to offer enrichment opportunities to give students valuable experience and skills.

Former student, Isaac, is a third year student at University of Glasgow and shares his experience at Ripley.

"Being a member of the Sixth Form Senior Student Team, chapel choir and cadets were all written about in my statement due to the skills they allowed me to develop.

When it came to applying to university, I was provided with lots of help with everything from using UCAS to practice interviews. My personal tutor helped me with every aspect of my personal statement. Overall, I found Ripley incredibly supportive and would encourage every student to make the most of the many opportunities that will be offered to you."

As part of their fundraising, they will be undertaking 'March in March' for Combat Stress which involves walking (or running) 10 miles in March to raise funds for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.

To celebrate 160 years of our Outstanding School, we are offering pupils the opportunity to become a Ripley Scholar. From our inception, Ripley has been committed to serving the community and our school value of Service continues to underpin everything we do.

Ripley Scholarships are worth up to £1,000 and are available in all Sixth Form subjects because we want our highly talented students to excel just as much in photography, music and art as they do in science, mathematics and history.

Students can apply to spend their Scholarship funding on items such as an iPad, text books, educational visits and travel passes. Funds will be held by school and allocated on educational support items to ensure Scholars maximise their opportunities in their awarded subjects. All Scholarship awards are subject to pupils meeting the entry requirements for Ripley Sixth Form in addition to the individual Scholarship criteria.

Students will need to achieve at least 3 x 7+ grades at GCSE including in their chosen Scholarship subject. Those who have the necessary predicted grades are eligible to apply and if successful at interview, will be given a conditional offer to become a Ripley Scholar. The final award will be made once GCSE results are published.

We are very excited to be holding our Sixth Form Open Evening for 2025 intake on Thursday 7th November in the Sixth Form Centre and main school.

Join us and discuss all our courses, subject entry requirements and speak to teachers at Ripley St Thomas about your next steps in higher education.

The evening includes keynote talks, which will outline the nature of Year 12 and 13 study, the academic and enrichment opportunities available to you and how to make an application to the Sixth Form.

Teaching staff and tutor teams will be available in the Sixth Form Centre throughout the evening to answer any specific questions you may have.
