We recently made our first donation of 1,100 sanitary pads to Bethany city church who provide care packages to help people in the North East! Thank you to all volunteers past and present for making this possible. We are still looking for more places to donate products to in the North East and to set up in other regions to help fight period poverty so please message the page or check out our website💡

We’re looking for tutors who are motivated to help the next generation tackle their GCSEs and prepare for their next steps.
Our volunteers have secured placements at the likes of Dyson, the World Bank Group, and more, as well as graduate jobs in London, Birmingham, and other areas.

We work with them to improve their CVs, help with job interview preparation, and provide a reference as they work with us.

It is estimated that period poverty causes more than 137,000 children to miss school in the U.K alone. Irise International works to develop a replicable and sustainable solution to the issues surrounding period poverty and period equality. Their approach is based on collective power, learning, and advocacy.

A massive well done to our tutors for raising this money through voluntary tuition and to Irise for their incredible work!

Meet a member the GLi team: Katie’s volunteering hours have benefited her student, her own skillset and GLi to develop. Having not tutored previously, Katie did an excellent job in supporting her student with A-Level Maths, whilst settling in and progressing in her own graduate career. Those hours have already made a significant impact and will continue to as time goes on, so from the team thank you Katie and well done!

Massive congratulations to one of our students who is now studying Aerospace Engineering with a year in industry at the University of Leicester! After a lot of hard work they’re settling in well and will also become a GLI tutor as we help them find work experience and develop their career. The money from their sessions will be used to build our first project to help the local community. Well done to the student and tutors!

Here’s a review from them:
Starting GLI, the tutors were very open and welcoming, with a teaching style that is interactive allowing me as a student to take more initiative with my learning style which is far more effective than traditional in class teaching. The online environment at GLI is very calming and has allowed me to grasp elaborate concepts; giving me an understanding to apply the knowledge I have gained over the course of several months. The tutors showed integrity and adaptability to help me during a time where education has been sidelined during the pandemic, this has propelled me to feel very confident to continue my studies into university.

A massive thank you to the Work in Progress team at Lancaster University and Santander for providing GLI with a £2000 grant earlier this year!💡This has helped cover our operating costs and means more can go to setting up our first community project which is currently in development. Work in Progress have a great team who help new startups find their feet and provide them with training, workshops and networks to get them operational.
