🚨 2012 Recruitment 🚨

Season 26/27

Our 2012 team are looking to add a few boys to the squad for the start of next season.

Currently playing in CLYFA League at Intermediate level, we have a few spaces open for next seasons squad. If your hard working, dedicated and looking to push yourself to reach the next level then give us a shout.

🟣Glasgow Thistle 9-3 Douglas Amateurs⚫️

Sunday Amateur football at its finest. Too many late call offs, couple of sort heads along side a scorching day have the boys playing a shift to put in, hats off to each one of them.

Decent enough start from the boys but individual errors would cost us dearly as we went into the break 3 nil down.

HT 3-0

To be fair to the boys they came out the 2nd half and the took those chances we didn’t quite take in the first half, pulling goals through both Andy’s making it 3-2. We would then pass up another chance to make or 3-3 and were shortly punished after that as couple of quick goals made it 5-2. Stuart would then get his first goal at amateur level before the legs ran out as the scoreline got away from us.

Couple of steps forward with the odd set back but we’ll continue to build a squad capable of competing.

Andy Mills stepped in today and put in one hell of a shift, getting a goal and an assist to his name. Hoping his visa to Australia gets rejected so we can have him a bit longer 😂

⚫️ Douglas Amateurs 3-2 Vennie United 🔵

First league game of the season for the returning Douglas Amateurs saw us hosting Vennie United and the game did not disappoint.

A strong start from Douglas would see them win a penalty through a driving run from young Cammy Smart on his debut. Unfortunately we couldn’t take the chance from the spot. Vennie would shortly take the lead from a set piece but Douglas hit back quickly as Willie Millar rolled back the years with a cool turn and finish.

HT 1-1

5 minutes into the 2nd half and a lovely ball from James Wallace would see Johnny nip in and score to put Douglas 2-1 up. We would shortly make it 3 with a lovely bit of football at the edge of the box before a shot from Andy Ward would get parried out for Willie to double his tally for the day. 3-1 Douglas. 30mins to go. Vennie would go on to score a worldie of their own which would leave a tense finish but we managed to get the win over the line. It’s good to be back 😨
