Globalization in Antiquity Lampeter

Tempus fugit! What a great event! So many speakers from across the world at our "Re-thinking Globalisation in Antiquity" conference.... And we might finally finish the conference proceedings - lots of delays (can we still say it was due to Covid...?), but now only a few minor things are missing before we can sent the finished manuscript to the publisher!
Anyway, lots of friends and colleagues on our group photo, though some speakers missed the photo opportunity. So many friends and colleagues on this photo.... Apart from Matt, D.J. and myself, there is Geraint Coles, Michael Sommer, Susan Leybourne, Gian Franco Chiai, William Clarence-Smith, Francisco Machuca Prieto, Tomas Larsen Høisæter, Valerio Bruni, Georg Müller, Sonsoles Costero Quiroga, Aitor Luz Villafranca, Ghislaine van der Ploeg , Marcela Caressa, Stefan Riedel.... and many more. Apologies for anyone whom I haven't mentioned. It was great to have these amazing speakers in one place and think about going beyond 'globalisation'....

Tempus fugit! I've just been reminded by this old newspaper article that it's now four years since our "Re-thinking Globalisation" conference. We're still working on the conference proceedings, waiting for the last few papers before we can finally send it off to the publisher. The global pandemic has unfortunately delayed our globalisation volume, since access to library facilities was so difficult across many countries for the past couple of years, but it should finally be out later this year!

While the publication of our "Re-thinking Globalisation" Conference proceedings is slowly nearing completion, just some more suggestions on ancient globalisms:
Just published "Isis in a Global Empire" by Lindsey A. Mazurek, CUP, February 2022 ( https://doi.org/10.1017/9781009032209) which may be of interest to some of you.
Also, on the relationship between individuals, communities and the 'global world, see the volume "Celtic Religions in the Roman Period: Personal, Local, and Global" with lots of fascinating papers!

For all of you who gave a paper at our "Re-thinking Globalisation" conference in 2018: Just to let you know that our conference proceedings are slightly delayed due to the problem of accessing library resources during the pandemic. But a great thank you to those who have already submitted their contribution. We still hope that the final book will come out in 2021, published by Archeopress in Oxford.

Update: The proceedings of our Lampeter conference on 're-thinking globalisation in the ancient world' will be published in Oxford by Archaeopress, probably coming out in 2021.
