Higher Farm - Education and Activity Centre Inspired by the stunning panoramic setting of our Equine Centre, our curriculum is guided by our principles of human ecotherapy.

Higher Farm is a premium year round education, outdoor adventure and events destination, combining specialist education, wellbeing, outdoor recreation, corporate experiences and community engagement across our unique 100-acre Cheshire countryside centre! Higher Farm Education is an alternative provision on a mission to re-engage young people with SEND back into Education and/or provide them with a

pathway to employability through bespoke practical learning experiences and nationally recognised City and Guilds qualifications, including functional skills. Working with our equine, farm and petting animals provides a safe, therapeutic, and uplifting environment that supports both learning and emotional well-being. Here, learning includes the social and emotional skills necessary for a successful transition to adulthood. By being part of a community, learners collaborate and grow together. Our Post-16 provision is in a period of growth and we are encouraging enquires from learners from Year 9 and upwards who may be finding mainstream or even their specialist provision overwhelming. Our unique setting provides the foundation to nurture well-being, build trust and develop independence; to be successful in life.

Equine / Animal Support Worker
Part-Time | Term Time Only

Higher Farm is looking for a reliable, practical and enthusiastic person to join our Education & Activity Centre team.

You’ll be helping with:
🐴 Daily care of horses and other animals
🧹 Feeding, mucking out and general stable duties
🌿 Preparing animals for education and activity sessions
✨ Keeping animal areas clean, safe and organised
💚 Supporting children and young people during equine and animal-based activities

We’re looking for someone who is:
✅ Confident and experienced around horses and animals
✅ Hardworking, dependable and happy working outdoors in all weather's.
✅ Friendly, patient and comfortable around children and young people
✅ Able to work independently and as part of a team

Experience in education, SEND or working with young people would be an advantage, but isn’t essential.

📍 Part-Time | Term Time Only

For some children and young people, expressing feelings, building trust or communicating with others can be challenging. Our animals offer a calm, accepting presence — listening without judgement and understanding without needing words.

Through Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) at Higher Farm, young people can develop:

A calm, hands-on horse experience for home educated children aged 5–14.

Join us at Higher Farm Education, near Knutsford, for a practical session where children can learn how to care for horses in a safe and supportive environment.

Children will have the chance to:

🐴 Meet and interact with horses
🧽 Groom and plait
🌾 Prepare food and water
🧹 Help with stable care
🐎 Learn about horse routines

This is a lovely opportunity for children to build confidence, develop responsibility and enjoy learning through real-life experiences with animals.
