Gone Wild Forest School Co-founded by Lesley and Sadie—passionate educators with over 30 years’ combined experience and nearly a decade in Forest School practice.

We deliver bespoke forest school packages, outdoor learning and nature connection and wellbeing for all ages. Gone Wild Forest School offers immersive, nature-based learning experiences tailored to support the growth, confidence and well-being of individuals and groups of all ages and abilities.

A huge shout‑out to our amazing Green Mondays Volunteer Group for all their hard work at both the Salvation Army Goldthorpe and the Goldthorpe Railway Embankment.

On Monday we celebrated their latest crop of fresh fruit and veg — a real testament to their dedication, teamwork and love for the community.

We were delighted to share their achievements with Barnsley Council Cllr Brian, Kay from Hows Thi Ticker, and the fabulous Alison and Jackie from the Salvation Army Goldthorpe. It’s wonderful to see everyone coming together to recognise the impact these volunteers are making week after week.

A huge thank you to Barnsley Council and their Great Childhood Ambition Funding for making our Fun in the Sun Family Forest School summer programme possible.
We’re also incredibly grateful to the Barnsley Council Dearne Area TeamTeam for the use of The Railway Embankment at Goldthorpe, and to the Salvation Army Goldthorpe for kindly allowing us access to their toilets throughout the programme.
And of course… to all the fabulous families who joined us and brought so much joy, curiosity, and sunshine to the woods. You made this summer truly special. 🌿💛

Due to a couple of cancellations we have a few spaces available on our Thursday 6th August afternoon Fun in the Sun Family Forest school session 1-3pm at the Railway Embankment Goldthorpe. What a fabulous day we have had at Bluebell Wood. I had the opportunity to work once again with the amazing Debbie Williams, the lovely Rachel Parkin and Anna Dene, the wonderful teenagers and their incredibly talented parents to make bunting for the upcoming music festival on the 6th September (tickets are still available). We also made willow crowns, Hapa Zome designs and log cookie creations!

Here at Gone Wild, we like to support our local communities wherever we can. Goldthorpe Salvation Army have launched a 'Bring a Tin' campaign. If you are attending any of our summer sessions and feel able to help, please bring a tin and we'll pass them on.

Today we have held our first two family fun sessions and they have been fabulous. Thank you to all the adults and children who attended. It's been a pleasure having you and sharing the great outdoors. E couldn't have asked for a better group to kick off our summer sessions. See you all again soon ☺️
