An awesome opportunity for taking risks and challenge preschool play. It’s fantastic to see the children’s coordination, agility, balance and strength developing through our play sessions here.

We’ve had such a busy lead up to Christmas. The children have worked like little elves to make gifts for their families and practice our nativity so it was lovely to take some time out for some festive fun hall.

We visited the elf village and told them what our cheeky elves had done to our Christmas tree….

We toasted marshmallows, danced in the snow and were very pleased to find out from a real life elf that we were on Santas nice list!

Preparations are under way for our entry for this years Christmas tree festival at St John’s Church

Children’s learning and development is always at the forefront of the activities we provide and making Christmas decorations is no exception. Look at the skills children are developing in threading, weaving, connecting, not to mention the fine motor skills they are perfecting.

Our tree is going to look fantastic 🤩

Lots of language, skills and concepts being explored this morning with simple construction play

Children explored and extended what they knew about size and measure; comparing heights, making predictions and measuring by counting using 1:1 correspondence to ensure accuracy when testing their predictions

This week we have been exploring Diwali 🪔 The festival of lights.

We began with a visit to Bombay Stores in Bradford and found Diva Lamps, Saris, beautiful Jewellery and lots of other treasures. The children loved dressing up for a special celebration, making their own Diva Lamps, dancing and creating Rangoli patterns through sensory play and mark making opportunities. It has been great to learn about festivals that other families celebrate and that has led into conversations about special festivals we celebrate with our families.

Younger children focused their explorations on light and shadow, colour and pattern and loved the opportunities for transporting, emptying and filling through sensory play opportunities.

We’ve had a gorgeous story time today with one of our tinytalkers grandmas.

She read to us one of her favourite stories, Mrs Lathers Laundry. This led to lots of investigation around bubbles, soaps, scrubbing, pe***ng out to dry and questions about what you can wash.

We didn’t wash the dog or an elephant like Mrs Lather did in the story, but we did enjoy washing and pairing socks, practicing our pincer grip to peg them out to dry, washing the babies clothes and giving the babies a bath.

Reading with children and sharing stories is so important for many aspects of their development. We want to invite some more of our family members in to share their favourite stories with us, so if this is something you can offer then please do let us know. 😊

So proud of our little ones who started school with such confidence and excitement today. It just goes to show how ready you were for your next stage in education. We are of course a little bit heartbroken 💔 but we know that you are going to have every success in your school journey.

Sending love to all the heartbroken parents out there ❤️ and lots of luck to all the little ones starting school for the first time, moving classes and starting new schools.
