Today KGS hosted the annual Fereday Prize Giving, celebrating the achievements of S2 pupils from KGS and Stromness Academy on their local history projects. With a lot of strong competition, the KGS winners for this year were, in first place Oscar, in second place Ran, and in third place Madison. Well done to all the entries across both schools, the judges were highly complementary, and especially to KGS pupil Oscar who received the overall winner prize. Thank you to Stromness Academy for travelling through and for the work of the Orkney Heritage Society and this year's judges πŸŽ‰πŸ“š

Alistair Carmichael, MP for Orkney and Shetland, visited Higher Modern Studies and Higher Politics pupils this morning. He answered their questions about his role as an MP and spoke to them about how MPs are able to affect decision making in government. The pupils were very keen to hear what Mr Carmichael had to say about the current political situation in the UK and were delighted to get useful examples to use in their upcoming SQA exams.
