Another Inclusive Practice success is ๐„๐ซ๐ข๐ง ๐‚๐ฅ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ง ๐Ÿฅณ. Erin never fails to give us a giggle and we are so pleased to help support her on her journey.

โ€œ I completed the Stepping Stones course last year. My favourite bit was EVERYTHING! I enjoyed the supportive environment and staff. I have moved on to โ€˜Rural Skillsโ€™. I am enjoying it because itโ€™s outside based and I like being outside. I would encourage people to come to UHI Orkney because itโ€™s got a great environment and great staff- better than school!!!โ€

Another star among us is ๐„๐ซ๐ข๐ค ๐Œ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ž๐ซ. Erik keeps us busy and makes us smile every day at UHI Orkney.

โ€œ I started on the Future Tracks course. I found it cool and good. I really enjoyed Young Enterprise and because of that I decided to go on to do the Rural Skills course. I am finding the course alright and I am enjoying it. You get to garden outside and that suits me better than being in a classroomโ€.

Erikโ€™s story is fantastic example of how classroom based education isnโ€™t for everyone, and that shouldnโ€™t be a barrier to learning. Thanks for sharing! ๐Ÿ’šโœจโญ๏ธ

โ€œ I started on the Stepping Stones course, initially hating Art and wanting to drop that moduleโ€ฆ. BUT over the 2nd semester I realised that I LOVED it with the help of my Lecturer Kerrianne Flett ๐Ÿ’š. She allowed me to deal with my past in a creative way, instead of pushing it all down. This experience led me to apply for the NC in Art & Design in which I have continued to flourish! ** Featured is my final piece named โ€œ ๐‚๐ก๐ซ๐ฒ๐ฌ๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌโ€ - itโ€™s a mix of my personal documents of what I went through as a kid, and some articles about how childhood trauma can lead to depression and potentially further issues with addiction. I intend to carry on to further studies through the BA in Fine Art at UHI Orkney. โ€œ

Focussed around core subjects such as - art, IT, numeracy, communication, hospitality, employability & money management, horticulture and creating an *award winning* Young Enterprise company.

Preparing for College & Work (National 5+ level) is geared for students whose next steps are employment, further study or a looking for an apprenticeship. Featuring a variety of core subjects and other curriculum such as - business, art, computing, construction, health and social care, hospitality, nature based learning, photography.
