Hi guys so my name is Martin Halstvedt, I started EduHub after tutoring for about 15 yrs. I thought I’d do a wee bio about who I am and how I got here. My vision is to deliver affordable excellent tutoring accessible for all.

I left school at 16 with not many qualifications and was an apprentice Joiner. After hitting a tree whilst skiing, and 3 operations later my knee was not able to do the job I did.

So........ I started my teacher training in 1997 at the University of Glasgow and I qualified in 2001. My first two years of teaching I was a supply teacher working between several different schools.

I secured a full time post in a High School and was a principal teacher but curiosity got me regarding alternative educational routes pupils follow, so 2 years later i was involved starting up the educational side of a social work project working with pupils who had been involved in crime. 3 years later I found myself working in one of the top private schools on the south coast of Spain.

A year later I was back working with pupils who had behavioural problems, the next year I took up the post of a Head Teacher of 3 schools that specialised in working with pupils who had been through trauma. Roll on 5 years later and I arrived at my current post in Additional Support Needs, where I have been for the past 7 years, supporting and working with pupils who have autism and are non-verbal.

Since Nationals first started in 2014 I have been working on a delivery of the subject that focuses on pupils understanding the maths in front of them and not just putting down answers that are right but they don’t understand.

Scottish results day: Record high for A grades as pass rate falls Pupils' pass rates are still well above pre-pandemic levels after formal exams were cancelled for the second year.
