It’s been 5 sleeps since we had 22 nervous nellies transform into concert soloists for the night.

Do hard things- but do it with “haunners”.

We’re a community and it’s not actually the notes and the rhythms that make the difference here. It’s the humans.

Almost all of the performers experienced that shiver of “uh oh” when they took to the stage, but they did it anyway. That’s massive, by the way!

The youngest performers were 6 years old. Tiny humans. To paraphrase from zog: “you’ll all be champion performers by the time you’re fully grown” 🙂

In a world where people actually choose to have “conversations” with robots, let’s get out of the house and learn a skill, and do it with pals. It’s the best way.

This is the whole vibe.

We don’t want this stuff on the grid, but we’ve got to put out a reminder, because the payment reminders haven’t been effective….

So sorry to pester folks, but the unpaid invoices have racked up again- and we have to pay other invoices on our end too!

We’d love to give all this away for free but we really can’t afford to. 🙏🙏🙏 maybe one day, but not this day!

It’s been a big week for our music students with some brilliant solo and duet performances at the Candlelight Concert from Initial Grade to Grade 6, and a wee influx of fabulous results in recent grade exams just in time for the Easter holidays.

Have a great two weeks off, musicians.

It’s nearly Easter holidays!

Yassss!

This week’s big event is our piano recital- the first of our Candlelight Concerts - a cosy wee hour spent inviting our students with solo repertoire to choose their favourite piece or two and come up to play for their pals and fam. Lovely.

Like with our dancers, this is an important opportunity to offer to youngsters as they hit their own milestones.

Some of the kids are using it as a rehearsal for exam repertoire, some of the kids play for pure joy’s sake and just resonate with a piece they’ve been studying.

Some of them are tiny people who are learning to read music and this is the first time they’ve really managed to do that on their own.

And just like dance- some are opting out of it because they’re just not ready to put themselves on a platform that way.

Every single one of them is welcome and is celebrated for choosing to learn the instrument. Hats off to you! In a world where a lot comes easy- these are the people taking on hard things (and smashing it!)

Temps-levé Tuesday 🩰

Is classical ballet worth studying?

Yes.

That’s all 🙃

23/03/2026

You are all wonderful. 💃🏻🩰🪩👯‍♀️

We have to realise that a big stage with a big audience, big noises and lots to remember is OVERWHELMING for most of us even as adults. (How many of you have rehearsed a 5 minute presentation about boring things that’s to be delivered to 8 folk sitting round a table before? Uh huh… you’ve been there)

Our little school is not about competitions, it’s not about pushing to the point that you break. It’s not about pressure.

It’s about making lives better for having a crack at performing arts, growing a culture where it’s enjoyed and appreciated to the point that they just can’t imagine a life without it… and this was an important day for every girl on and off that stage who are part of our community. They’re all a part of our big team.

I always say the magic in performance isn’t actually the steps or the sounds or the costumes or the lights- it’s the energy in the interactions all of that creates.

It lives in the space between people- when a performer smiles at the audience and gets a smile back. It does something for that moment to the air in the room and we all feel it.

Yeah, we teach them how to achieve it, but it only exists in the moment, and we want everybody to be able to feel that moment.

Performers have the emotion of a room in the palms of their hands, and that’s a magic we want all of our students to know: your wee hands are capable of huge meaningful things. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

YES!

The first ever dance-only production with our very young student body of Saturday dancers went down a storm. Incredible. We are so proud.

Photos by the excellent Colin McGlynn - thank you for capturing some of our happiness on the day 👯‍♀️
