It was a real pleasure to attend the Tutors Alliance Scotland board meeting last week and to be officially welcomed as one of their Tutor Reps.

I’m really looking forward to getting involved, representing the voice of independent tutors and contributing to the work TAS is doing to support and strengthen the tutoring community across Scotland.

I’m proud of every student I supported again this year, including those whose journey isn’t finished yet.

Of course results matter. We work hard towards them and it’s right to celebrate when that work pays off.

But a grade doesn’t define a student.

Sometimes progress is an A. Sometimes it’s finally understanding something that once felt impossible. Sometimes it’s building enough confidence and foundations to come back stronger next year.

Two messages from parents really stayed with me:

“Maths is beginning to make sense for her now so I’m sure it’s something that she can achieve with your assistance.”

“We cannot thank you enough for all your help.”

Not everyone got the result they hoped for, but that doesn’t erase the progress they’ve made or work we’ve put in together to reach the point they are now.

A grade is one moment. The learning, confidence and progress behind it can last much longer. That progress can also mean building a stronger foundation to come back, try again and achieve it next year. 💪

What a Results Day it’s been!

I’ve loved hearing from so many students and families today, with just a few results to come in.

So far:
⭐ 11 A grades
⭐ 7 B grades
⭐ 84.6% pass rate

But the stories behind the grades mean even more.

One student went from 9% in their prelim to a B.

Another failed their prelim, joined SGK Tutoring in January, and achieved an A!

One student achieved an A in Maths, his best result across all of his exams. He expressed how thankful he was for the support over the phone today and his words brought a wee tear to my eye.

Thank you to every family who trusted me with their child’s learning.

I’m incredibly proud of every student I’ve worked with this year, whatever their result today.

Whatever the result, I hope you’re proud of the effort you’ve put in, the progress you’ve made and everything you’ve learned along the way.

I’m incredibly proud of every one of you, regardless of the grade.

To all of my students waiting on Tuesday, I’m incredibly proud of every one of you, regardless of the grade that comes through. I’ve seen the work, effort and progress behind the scenes, and one result doesn’t define that.
