We’ve been a little quiet lately because Pat and I have been busy with our own art! 🎨🖌️

We’re delighted to be exhibiting our work this week at The Art Rooms in Pittenweem along with a fellow artist Elaine Allison. We’d love for our lovely art workshop customers to come along and see what we’ve been creating.

It would be wonderful to see some familiar faces, come along, have a browse, and say hello!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our recent drawing workshop! 😊

We gave everyone a fun challenge this time, exploring negative space and even drawing from an upside-down image. It was amazing to see how quickly things clicked when we stopped thinking about what we were drawing and focused instead on the shapes we could actually see.

Here are a couple of results (I forgot to take more photos! 😳) that shows just how effective this approach can be – in this case, drawing a face simply by observing the shapes rather than what our brain thinks a face should look like. Great work by everyone. 👏✏️

Thanks so much to everyone who came along to our Degas Ballet Art Workshop in Soft Pastels! We had a lovely time capturing dancers and all those beautiful pastel colours inspired by Degas.

And just look at these pictures. We loved seeing everyone’s different styles come to life!

Thanks for spending the afternoon getting creative with us. We can’t wait to do it again soon!

🎨 Come join our Soft Pastel Workshop: Degas' Ballet Dancer 🩰Sunday 28th June, 2-4.30pm at The King's Kirkcaldy

Have you always admired Degas' beautiful ballet dancers but thought they looked too difficult to draw? This workshop is designed to make it easy and enjoyable for everyone especially complete beginners!

We'll focus on just one dancer, and we'll use a simple grid system to help you accurately draw the figure step by step. There'll be plenty of guidance throughout the session, with tutors on hand to help whenever you need it.

Once your drawing is in place, we'll explore the wonderful world of soft pastels to bring your dancer to life with colour, movement and atmosphere.
