Happy Monday! How's the start to your week going?

Busy with my other hat of School Governor on today, but looking forwards to music shenanigans this evening and tomorrow.

I've also just realised I've now been having singing lessons for nearly a year! I cannot believe how much I've enjoyed it and also how much its helped with my other instruments and also with my usual "day job" of teaching!

To say I started with a lesson or two to be able to help my eldest practise her singing, and its kept going because....
..that wasn't the only reason for having lessons. To all my students who come for lessons and who get an attack of the nerves... it happens to all of us! Including me! The amount of wobbles I've had has been eye-opening and wonderful!

It's scary learning something new, opening yourself up to being vulnerable in that way. But there's so much joy, and a fantastic sense of accomplishment from actually doing it.

So this is just to say thank you for trusting me with that process, it's an honour to be with you through this journey.

Good morning!! What's your Saturday hold for you?

This morning off out for a mobile lesson. Have a guess as to which three of these pieces we will be focusing on today?

Love the syllabus from Trinity for their exams!! That'll be content for another post about Trinity versus ABRSM!!

Good morning! We've got sunshine for the first morning in ages!!

And I've just noticed an Angel wing in the photo!!

Waking up to hear the birdsong and see the light puts me in mind of "Morning" by Greig. And I'm reminded a sorting session is needed as I can't find my music for that piece! 🤦‍♀️

Granted at the moment its a bit of a mashup between "Morning" and Elbows "one day like this" 🤭

Yesterday, I spent most of the day transcribing Bright Eyes into Sibelius, and it took "hours." Painstaking mind-numbing hours... so of course I enjoyed it!! Alot of fun to get engrossed into this, but not all that efficient on timescales. 😉

Today, I thought there must be an easier way to get these things into the computer... (looking at my massive stash of sheet music...) so I rolled out Photoscore.
...and STILL spent most of the day inputting!!! But... the process is easier.

Use Photoscore to get it into Sibelius, then tart it up from Sibby!!! Geek alert central. ⚠️ 🤣

So today, I have Elizabeth and Darcy in my head as todays piece was the theme from the 90's BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This means I have both parts electronically, and I can pick which part to play. Is today a piano day or a clarinet day??

Now I have the choice. AND... I have in mind someone who might like to play the piano bit to P&P!!! So double wins. 😍

Loving getting sidetracked into Sibelius and transcribing a piece out of a rather aged book so we feel better about annotating the score!!

Yes.... it's *That* piece, from *That* film. 🐰😭

Funnily enough it cropped up for me in my singing lesson last week too...... love a bit of synchronicity! How often do you find a piece / song will "find" you and then not leave you alone?!
