“The best art lesson ever!”… high praise from Primary 7 today as we welcomed locally born illustrator Conor Busuttil virtually to our classroom!

We’ve been learning about myths and legends in Literacy and how to create mythical creatures. Conor brought our descriptions to life in his drawings, then taught the children how to draw his favourite mythical creature: a dragon.

The discussions around creative freedom and exploring mythical characters will be invaluable as our pupils continue this topic. We love studying the books Conor has illustrated and can’t wait to see more of his future designs!

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule, Conor! 🎨🐉

As part of our Transport topic, P2 enjoyed a fun-filled trip to Newtownards Airport today! ✈️
We learned about different types of aircraft, had the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of a plane, and even discovered what it takes to fly one.
To end a fantastic day, we visited the play park at Blair Mayne Leisure Centre, where everyone had great fun playing with their friends. We had a wonderful day of learning and adventure!

🌟 Settling into life in P4 🌟

We’ve been busy enjoying lots of practical, hand-on learning! 🧩✏️

🔢 In Numeracy, we’ve been exploring tessellation, measuring and place value through practical activities.

🔤 In Literacy, we’ve been learning about alphabetical order and taking on some fun table challenges-from Challenge 1 at our tables, to Challenge 2 at two tables, and finally Challenge 3 with the whole class! 👏

🎨 We’ve also been getting creative with watercolour painting. Watch this space for some fantastic creations\! 👀🎨

It’s been lovely to see P4 settling into routines, working together and enjoying our learning. 💛

As part of our 'Our Wee Country' topic, Primary 5 have been learning about famous inventors from Northern Ireland.

We were particularly inspired by Lilian Bland, who, in 1910-11, became one of the first women in the world to design, build and fly an aircraft, the Bland Mayfly.

Following in her footsteps, our budding engineers put their creativity and skills to the test as they designed, built and flew their own aeroplanes!

Such great fun! Well done P5 ✈️
