English and Maths Tutoring - Kinross

English and Maths Tutoring - Kinross We offer one to one tuition for secondary school pupils in English and Mathematics. When I returned to work, I took up a part-time position in banking.

A few words of introduction from our Literacy and English tutor, Carolyne:

I am an enthusiastic and committed English teacher and former head of faculty with over 30 years experience in both independent and state schools. During this time, I have taught at all stages and presented at SQA certification at all levels, with thorough knowledge of syllabus requirements and assessment. I have also spen

t time working in Support for Learning and have a particular interest in supporting and encouraging pupils who are experiencing barriers to learning. I enjoy tutoring as it allows personal rapport and engagement, allowing learning at an appropriate pace, focussing on individual strengths and identifying development needs. A personal learning plan will meet individual needs, whether that be organising revision, consolidating skills, developing strategies to maximise exam success. Boosting confidence and achieving potential is always the underlying aim and it is immensely satisfying to share that journey with each pupil. And now the same from our Numeracy and Mathematics tutor, Anne:

I studied Actuarial Science at the University of Kent at Canterbury. After my degree, I returned home to Edinburgh to work in life assurance and associated businesses until the birth of my first child. After the birth of my second child, I worked as a classroom assistant and it was at this point, I decided to return to my mathematical roots and retrain as a secondary Maths teacher. During my teaching career, I have taught at all stages and levels from S1 to S6, CfE levels 2 to 4 and National 3 to Advanced Higher. I left full time teaching to spend more time with my, already retired, husband but missed the opportunity to share my love of my subject with others. Tutoring pupils has allowed me to do this. Through this work, I have been able to offer one-to-one support that I was unable to do in the classroom. For those that I have helped, this has meant that I have been able resolve ingrained errors and build confidence to move their learning forward.
