๐ŸŒŸ WHAT AN ADVENTURE WEโ€™VE HAD! ๐ŸŒŸ

Our Summer Holiday Club has been travelling through time, discovering dinosaurs, pirates, knights, castles and a whole lot more! ๐Ÿฆ–๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ๐Ÿฐโœจ

๐Ÿฆ• WEEK 3 โ€“ TIME TRAVELLERS! โณ

We stepped millions of years back in time to discover the fascinating world of dinosaurs and fossils! The children learned all about palaeontologists and what they do, before getting creative with Egyptian art, constructing our own pyramids and even writing their names in hieroglyphics using wax crayons and sandpaper. ๐Ÿ”Ž๐Ÿพ

Then it was time to sail the seven seas! ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธโš“ We became fearless pirates, followed clues on a pirate treasure hunt and used wooden blocks to design and build our very own pirate ships. ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿšข

๐Ÿฐ WEEK 4 โ€“ KNIGHTS, CASTLES & FANTASY! ๐Ÿ‰

We entered a magical world of knights, castles and fantasy! The children discovered fascinating facts about castles and explored what a coat of arms represents. They then designed their own shields and crowns before putting their construction skills to the test by building castles from recycled materials. ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ๐Ÿฐ

Our garden became a fantasy playground too! We made mud paint, created our own garden and got wonderfully messy with our messy monsters! ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ‘น

There was even a knight-and-horse racing game, where our knights had to learn how to control their trusty steeds! ๐ŸŽโš”๏ธ

And with the summer sunshine, witnessing a solar eclipse, we finished things off with a very welcome ice cream treat ๐Ÿฆ and some fantastic water games, including the water balloon and spoon race! ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿฅ„

What an action-packed couple of weeks filled with imagination, discovery, creativity, teamwork and plenty of laughter! โค๏ธ

๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ”ฌ What an incredible start to our Holiday Club! โ˜€๏ธ

Week 1: Under the Sea ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒŠ
Our children explored the worldโ€™s oceans and discovered amazing sea creatures. They got creative by designing their own under-the-sea charm bracelets, making beautiful sea collages, and crafting fantastic 3D octopuses using cutting and origami techniques. We also enjoyed decorating delicious biscuits and made the most of the sunshine with games of rounders, badminton, and football!

Week 2: STEM Week ๐Ÿ—๏ธ๐Ÿš€
Our young engineers put their skills to the test by building famous landmarks including London Bridge, the Empire State Building, and Stonehenge using wooden blocks. They designed strong bridges with marshmallows and toothpicks, created their own catapults, and explored light and shadows by drawing around their friendsโ€™ silhouettes in the sunshine. We tested objects that sink or float, taking a vote of who was right or wrong.
To finish the week, they designed paper and straw gliders, testing how wind force affected which one flew the furthest and fastest.

Itโ€™s been wonderful seeing so much creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and fun over the first two weeks.
We canโ€™t wait to see what the rest of the summer brings! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’™

Butterfly Room โ€“ Play, Learn, Grow!
This Half Term in Nursery
The children in Butterfly Room have had a wonderful and exciting half term filled with fun, exploration, and learning.
We explored the fascinating "Under the Sea" topic, where the children learned about a variety of sea creatures and their habitats. They enjoyed listening to stories, creating colourful collages, making marks and label writing, exploring inprint dough, and learning about shells and the creatures that live inside them.
To celebrate Father's Day, the children had great fun decorating delicious cookies to take home as a special gift.
Our Holiday Destinations topic encouraged the children to learn about different countries, maps, and flags. They loved using their imagination in our airport role-play area, pretending to check in, board aeroplanes, and travel to exciting destinations.
We also celebrated the World Cup, taking part in football-themed activities that promoted teamwork, coordination, and fun.
For International Mud Day, the children embraced outdoor learning, enjoying messy play, digging, mixing, exploring, and discovering the many benefits of playing with mud.
Our story focus was The Three Little Pigs. The children listened to the story, acted it out through drama, and worked together to build houses using a variety of materials. During Forest School, they extended their learning by constructing their own dens and houses outdoors.
It has been a wonderful half term full of curiosity, creativity, and imagination. We are incredibly proud of all the children's enthusiasm, confidence, and growing independence. Thank you for your continued supportโ€”we wish you all a happy and restful holiday and look forward to another exciting term ahead and welcoming our new children. ๐Ÿฆ‹
We return on Thursday 3rd September.

Ladybird Room.

This term, the children have enjoyed sharing a range of stories including Handaโ€™s Surprise, Little Frog, Freddie the Frog, The Hungry Hen and Where Is My Egg? Through these books, they have developed their Communication and Language skills by listening to stories, joining in with repeated phrases, answering simple questions, learning new vocabulary and talking about characters, animals and events.

Our stories have also supported the childrenโ€™s Personal, Social and Emotional Development as they have explored themes such as kindness, friendship, caring for others and taking turns. Through role play, songs and group activities, children have been encouraged to build confidence, cooperate with their friends and express their feelings. Physical Development has been promoted through movement activities inspired by the stories, developing both gross motor skills through action games and fine motor skills through mark making, crafts and hands-on activities linked to the books. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿž

Over four fun-filled days, our explorers travelled around the world without leaving the club!

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท Day 1 โ€“ France
We discovered fascinating facts about the Eiffel Tower and learnt some French phrases such as Bonjour and au revior.
All the children enjoyed some chocolate croissants as a tasty treat!

๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต Day 2 โ€“ Japan
The children explored Japanese culture and created beautiful blossom-inspired artwork and learnt how to create an origami cat!๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Day 3 โ€“ Brazil
We talked about the colourful Carnival celebrations and made our own vibrant masks before taking part in a fantastic parade with music and dancing!
Interesting facts were learnt about the Amazon river and wild animals that live in the Amazon forest. ๐ŸŒณ ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿฝ

๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช Day 4 โ€“ Kenya
Our adventurers discovered interesting facts about Kenya, learnt about the Maasai tribe, and explored the meaning behind the colours of the Kenyan flag.๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช

โ˜€๏ธ With the hot weather this week, we also enjoyed lots of outdoor water play, fun games, and cooled down with tasty ice pops as a special treat!

A huge well done to all our wonderful children for their creativity, enthusiasm, throughout this very hot week.
We loved seeing their imaginations come to life as they travelled around the world with us!
